Title: Water
Drabble: #57
Rave's prompt: Coin
Randomly selected pairing: Jyouori
Disclaimer: I don't own Digimon.
Notes: I've done nothing all day. How good's that? Apart from writing this, obviously.

Iori lets nothing go to waste. If he's given a meal he doesn't like, he'll still clear his plate. If he finds himself with nothing to do, he'll practice his kendo instead of wasting his time. If he's given an opportunity to do something good or beneficial, he'll take it without a second thought.

Jyou's very lucky to have someone like Iori looking out for his money. If he didn't, he'd almost certainly be broke by now. Even if it's only pennies, Iori won't let him throw them away. He remembers a time when they were using a machine to buy train tickets, and it didn't give out change; Jyou didn't have the exact amount with him, and if Iori hadn't been there he would have just put in too much money and let the remaining few pence go. But no, Iori wouldn't allow it. He insisted that they go to the ticket office instead, where Jyou would get his change.

Thanks to incidents like that, Jyou now has a handy stash of coins in his room. He counted it all once, and it actually added up to quite a lot. He knows he wouldn't have any of it if it weren't for Iori.

But he also knows that money isn't everything, regardless of how unwilling Iori is to let him spend his pennies on something that won't be worth his while. He'd rather have happiness than money, and Iori makes him happy. So, again, he's lucky; he gets both at the same time.

He knows Iori understand why being happy is important, but he can't seem to grasp the idea that happiness is more important than material possessions at the end of the day. They go for a walk together one day, and stop to admire a rather large fountain. The Jyou has an idea; he reaches into his pocket and places a coin in Iori's hand.

He won't accept protests or arguments; he simply insists that Iori throws the coin away. He can make a wish on it, like lots of people do. Iori is hesitant. He clearly doesn't want to just get rid of the coin. But Jyou says it will serve a purpose. It will make both of them happy.

So Iori throws the coin into the water and watches it sink to the bottom of the fountain, regretting it almost immediately. It had better be worth it.
