It had been easy at first, taking Cosima to the doctor and running tests. She'd been patient enough, watching doctors that didn't really know what they were doing touching her and taking down results. Except they couldn't find anything, well not really anyways. After all, Cosima was human but she wasn't like other humans. Her genetic material wasn't the original. It was hard to draw results from, difficult to figure out what was causing her organs to fail. her lungs to degrade into nothing. And Delphine was scared. Because she'd run tests of her own, and she couldn't for the life of her find what was wrong with her girlfriend.

Girlfriend. It was all so bittersweet. She'd come back to the apartment with nothing but fucking determination and…and love. She'd been determine to find her, to set things straight. To tell her she had messed up, that that was clear to her, but she had fallen. She had fallen hard.

But she wasn't the only one that had fallen. She'd found Cosima laying on the living room floor.

Red. So much red everywhere. She remembers Cosima leaving, in that red coat after their first time. She remembers that feeling of ecstasy and fear. Fear that that would be the only time Cosima would ever let her in again. And now, Cosima was crying and it was because of her. She was dying. She had ruined her. It had taken Delphine all she had not to run then. Her feet had moved on her own accord and her arms had wrapped herself around the small girl. And despite the weak pushes and shoves she got in return, she held on tight. She'd decided she would explain later how much love she held for her but right then, Cosima had needed her, needed help. And she'd stayed.

And it got harder. Weeks passed and all she could do was watch helplessly as her girlfriend withered away. And now, she sat at Cosima's bedside, her hand cradling Cosimas. She needed her. She needed to get better. But, how could she when the problem was unclear? She closed her eyes and all she saw was Cosima, every breath she took was Cosima, she wanted to fall on her knees and pray to God to give her breath back. Because Cosima was her breath. She was filled with her and if she lost her, God if she lost her….

Time. They say the time you spend with the people you love will never be enough once you've lost them. And now Delphine knew. Because Cosima had been a light. She'd been bright and she had saved her. She had turned Delphines world around in such a short amount of time. And now… she was gone.
