Crumbling

The violet-haired girl lay on the ground. It was raining. Sakura stood over her with a glowing, green chakra-infused hand, trying to heal her from all the damages caused by the enemy. But it was no use. She had lost too much blood and was slowly dying.

Suddenly she saw a tall, blonde figure with dazzling azure eyes. Naruto. The boy she had loved ever since the first day she saw him all alone at the academy. The one who always inspired her when she felt useless and weak. The one who said he loves her only a few months ago.

"Sakura, isn't there anything you can do?" said Naruto, tears streaming from his sapphire eyes. He looked at the girl who has always believed in him. Hinata could hear the worry and depression in his voice as her life slowly crumbled away.

"I'm sorry, Naruto. We did the best we could. She's dying," Sakura said.

"Naruto-kun...," Hinata spoke in a weak voice. Hinata had long since overcome her stuttering. Her voice was almost inaudible, but Naruto heard it.

"Hinata-chan, I'm so sorry. I couldn't protect you. I swore to protect everyone that I love. I failed."

"It's not your fault. I should have been more careful." Just then Hinata closed her lavender-tinted eyes for the last time.

"Hinata? Hinata? Hinata!" Naruto screamed as the girl stopped breathing. Naruto felt like one thousand knives were pushed into his heart repeatedly. They say that time can heal everything. Sadly, this will never be the case for Naruto Uzumaki.
