It was all Nick's fault.
Not that he would ever, ever admit it, especially not to Andy's face.
But it really was all Nick's fault.
He shouldn't have had that second cup of coffee the morning only a week into their undercover op. Since he did, since he was foolish enough to hope they would find more than what was left in the coffee maker itself (weak and bitter swill; however, it had caffeine, it's only saving grace), Andy was left without any that morning.
When she finally made her way into the kitchen at the horrific hour of 5:30, eyes blurry and steps more than a little stumble filled, she sought coffee mindlessly.
Finding none, she rounded slowly on Nick.
Studied him.
Turned back to study the residue in the coffee maker.
A terrifying glint appeared in her eyes.
Nick did his best to sink his way into the couch, nearly empty mug a weak shield.
(Far from the best choice. In fact, it was likely the worst, because it was the chipped green mug Andy had already laid claim to their first morning in the cover apartment).
She narrowed her eyes at him, before sauntering out of the small kitchen unit and towards the bathroom for a shower.
Nick breathed a sigh of relief.
(Pre-emptive. He should have taken cover while he had the chance, or at least gone to get her something store bought.
He didn't).
That's what started it all.
The next morning (after they had purchased enough newly ground beans to last at least a week; they'd find more when they had the time), Nick woke and stumbled his way to the washroom, gagging slightly at his morning breath.
Scraping his hands across grit filled eyes, at first, he could've sworn he was hallucinating.
Really, that was the only logical answer to what was before him.
Blinking furiously, he stared at the small and a touch grimy sink.
All of Andy's toiletries were in their place.
All of Nick's were in their place.
There was only one problem.
Every single one of Nick's toiletries (razor, tooth brush, wash cloth. Hell, he was even sporting a brand new can of decidedly feminine shaving cream) were pink.
A rather brilliant shade of eye searing pink.
He didn't even bother searching for his old stuff; he had no doubt Andy had been throughout.
He did have to applaud her audacity though.
Thoughts of retaliation began to form.
And thus began the cover apartment pranks.
It really was all Nick's fault.
