A Word from the Author: Hello everyone, it's jediclonecowgirl. Lately I've become obsessed with writing Harry Potter one-shots. That isn't healthy anymore. HAHA! Well...this is my first attempt at a "Next Generation" one-shot. I hope you like it.
Albus Potter stared outta the window of his compartment at the Hogwarts express. He was sharing one with his cousin Rose Weasley. Today would be their first day at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
"What's wrong Albus? You've been quiet, since we pulled out of King's Cross.", Rose asked.
"I don't know how the Sorting will turn out Rose. What if James was right all along? What if I really end up in Slytherin?", Albus asked.
"Aww...c'mon. He's just been telling nonsense. You are not like this. You are not...", Rose began, but she was cut off by someone knocking at the compartment's door, which turned out to be James.
He had no mischievious grin on his face and he didn't attempt to make a joke. This time he was only smiling sadly and it was mixed up with a total sense of guilt...at least it looked this way to Rose. Then James opened the door and stepped into the compartment.
"Al...can I talk to ya?", he asked.
"Of Course you can James.", Albus replied.
"Rose...do you mind?", James mumbled sitting down opposite to Albus.
"Not at all.", Rose replied and left.
As soon as Rose had left the young second year put a hand on his little brother's shoulder, avoiding eye-contact with him.
" 'm sorry.", he finally mumbled then.
"For all those jokes about you being sorted into Slytherin. That was just...", James said.
"A load of waffle? This is how uncle Ron would put it.", Albus said in a weak attempt to joke.
"Heh...yeah, but...", James began, but the tears began to stream down his face.
"Jokes can easily get outta hand. I just meant to joke around a bit with you, but after I saw how worried you were, I knew I had just managed to ruin the greatest day of your life.", James murmured then.
"I didn't know that I was going to get married already.", Albus tried to cheer James up with a joke.
In some way it worked and James looked up at Albus and smiled slightly. He took Albus left hand into both of his hand.
"No matter in what house you sorted in, I will always be there for you and for Lilly and if anyone dares to harm you, or Lilly, when she comes, I will hex this person so badly, that he or she can not sit for four weeks.", James vowed.
"Even if I'm put in Slytherin?", Albus asked.
"Even if you are put in Slytherin. It's my duty, as the oldest child of the three of us.", James said.
Then the two Potter brothers got up and hugged. They stood like this for quite a while. To brothers clinging to each other and they stopped, as they heared a loud "AWWWWW!" from outta the compartment.
"Come in already Rose.", James said.
