Authors note: I don't own Naruto, obviously. I can't draw to save my life, my Japanese is terrible and if I did, Sasuke would have been slapped round the face a looooong time ago :)
(Also, massive spoilers for chapter 598 of the manga onwards. If you haven't read that far, I would avoid this story as I know how much it sucks getting something like that spoiled!)
Kakashi felt his heart stopped beating, just for a few seconds, before it was off again, beating far too fast to be healthy. He might have been dreaming, delusional, but there was no mistaking that sharingan. Obito was alive and was trying to kill him and everyone he cared for. He had wondered, as their fight had progressed, how his Kamui was having such a large effect on Tobi. How was Tobi using the same alternate dimension as Kakashi? That didn't make sense, their sharingan would have to be connected somehow and the persons whose sharingan Kakashi had was dead. None of it made sense.
Transporting Naruto's Kage no Bushin had taken its toll on Kakashi's chakra reserves. He was struggling to stand and wanted nothing more than for this stupid damn war to end, curl up with Icha Icha and go to sleep. Hell, he'd be happy to just collapse where he was standing and sleep for a good 12 hours.
Sweat lined his forehead, beads slowly trailing to his face, being absorbed into his dirty mask. Stupid thing was making it slightly harder to breath but he would rather die than remove it. It helped keep his emotions in check, gave him something to hide behind.
His thoughts were running wild.
The mask smashed and his world stopped. Obito, his best friend, the person that had helped to turn him from cold and heartless to caring with only a few words only to die hours later. Memories flashed before his eyes and he could stop his mouth from falling open and his eyes from glazing over. It was too much. He was obviously suffering from chakra loss more than he had previously thought. Obito was dead. He had watched it, played it over and over and over in his mind. The surgery to replace his eye, the one he had ruined by saving Obito by helping him save Rin. They had finally become a team in the last few hours of Obito's life and Kakashi would never forgive himself for letting Obito die.
Obito, who was currently standing in front of him, hate clear in his glare. That wasn't his best friend.
'I'm sorry Obito, I'm sorry Rin. I have failed you both.'

Thanks for reading! My first fanfiction, so sorry if it's terrible! Also, sorry if it's been done before, which I'm sure it has, but I haven't actually read anything like it so yeah... Appoliges if I have copied anything without knowing it, but you know what they say 'great minds think alike!'
