Emotions were not necessary. It could not help win the wars - would not stop the raging battles that cost innocent lives. To put it simple, emotions were weakness and flaws that resided in every human's heart.
It was pathetic to let emotions controlled your actions. Lightning knew this from experience and yet her sister kept reminding her that it was okay to show your feelings.
Lightning silently disagreed.
Absurd.
Nonsensical.
Emotions were pointless.
However...
When she leaned against the cold surface of the abandoned ruins, the only source of light and heat was the small bonfire she made minutes ago - Lightning let her eyes flickered to Hope's tired form. The boy was sleeping peacefully, dropping his guard down.
Lightning could not help but to feel worried whilst the rush of protectiveness began to take place in her beating heart.
She heard a faint groan and her gaze darted out to the silver-haired boy. For a second, she was a bit astonished (although she did not show it) when Hope flashed her with an innocent smile.
"Hey." he said weakly.
Lightning replied it with a quick nod. Her gloved hand fisted the fabric of her upper garment.
Under the starless night, Claire Farron wondered if emotions were still unnecessary.
