He wasn't sure how it had happened, to be honest.
One moment, he was fine. Then the next... It was almost as if...
Giggles erupted from his lips. The other nations took shocked steps backwards as he began to laugh.
As quickly as it came, it stopped. A slight smile was on his face as he fingered the handle of his katana, playing with the knotted thread of string at the top. It was a lazy twirling of his fingers, around and around the string went before falling. Rinse and repeat.
The others gulped as he took a step forward, the smile widening at the fear that he commanded.
"I guess then," he drawled, "You never really knew me at all~!" One in particular flinched. Japan supposed the Brit couldn't help it. He was, after all, the one who made him like this. The one who finally made this happen. The one who made him snap. It wasn't intentional, oh no. But the point is, is that it happened. And there would be hell to pay.
Behind him, a broken China sat on a soft, meeting room chair, watching as this played out. He shut his eyes tightly. Tears leaked out from under his eye lashes.
Hong Kong had been taken from him. By England.
China had tried his best to get him back, to somehow persuade the other nation, but to no avail. But this sadness didn't compare to the slight fear he felt at this point in time. Japan snapping.
Truth of the matter is that he knew it would happen one day. He didn't know the time or the place, but he knew that it would definitely happen. And it did. China's intuition was hardly ever wrong when it came to these types of things. Sometimes, it scared him. The Japan in front of him scared him.
But he was his brother.
His younger, over-protective brother.
The one that cared, even though he hardly ever showed it.
So China closed his eyes, trying to block out the screams as the snapped Japan dealt what he had called "justice". A sick, twisted version of it that the oldest nation didn't mind one bit.
Japan was his brother after all.
And he loved him.
Just entertaining the idea of a snapped!Japan. I know that Japan is much more... Emotional(?) and OOC, but I couldn't really think of how else to write him. I actually based this on a picture of him laughing. It should be in the top left corner of the fic as the front cover. *Winks*
