Attack on Titan

If not for yourself, then do so for her

A/N: I wasn't seeing anything of the sort on the site, so here's my try at such an alternate scenario.

Ymir, also known unofficially as the Dancing Titan, also known by some as the Jaw Titan, was at a crossroads now. She had witnessed Eren Jaeger, another person with the power of the Titans, command a horde of Titans to kill the one that had killed his mother, and was now commanding them to attack Bertolt and Reiner to keep them at bay whilst he and the Survey Corps made their escape. It just couldn't be possible, but she was seeing it happen right in front of her eyes. If he could do such a thing as control the Titans, then was truly possible for her to have a future within the Walls?

"I'm with you to the end, Ymir," she remembered Historia telling her.

Historia. She was ready to hand her over to whoever these people were beyond the Walls if it meant saving herself…and the bastard girl was willing to stand beside her, even when the consequences seemed grim. Who was she to even consider what she sought to do with her just to survive?

"Ymir?" Historia asked when the Dancing Titan stopped and turned to face her.

Ymir merely stroked her head with one of her fingers and spoke the only word she could at a desperate time like this.

"Sorry," she uttered in her Titan form.

It was a close call, but they were able to escape the Titan horde and reach the inner boundaries of Wall Maria. But they were reduced to having nothing.

Ymir, thought Reiner as he stood atop the wall in the night, thinking back to the moment when the woman that had, unintentionally, killed Marcel over five years ago, left them for dead as she fled with the Survey Corps. I will make you pay for this.

"…So, what made you change your mind about earlier?" Historia asked Ymir as they were down in a prison cell awaiting the hearing for the latter girl to decide her fate.

"What I saw Eren do," she stated, "it made me rethink what might be possible. And in the end, I realized that if I had fled with Reiner and Bertolt with you, I might've made the biggest mistake of my life…and I couldn't do that. I couldn't just hand you over to them. So, what made me change my mind, you ask? You're my only reason."

It surprised Historia to hear her say this. She didn't expect Ymir to make a decision based on her.

"I still ask that you do one thing," Ymir told her. "No matter what happens… Take back your life."

Atop Wall Maria, partially obscured by the blinding sunlight, the Beast Titan's human operator looked out at the land in between himself and Wall Rose and thought, after being informed of the fate of one of the other Titan Shifters from five years ago, Sothey have three of the Nine Titans now. Quite the turn of events.

Until further notice…
