FAT LADY
She was so proud of that girl, as she was of all her students, all of those who had passed through her portrait over the years. She didn't know why but she somehow always thought of them as her students, even though she had no more claim on them than anyone else.
She was one of her favourites of all time though, she was one who would always stick out in her mind even yaers after she was gone. While she might not have left the biggest impact on the school in her time there, she had the intelligence and diligance which made the painting more proud than she had ever been. After all, even Dumbledore and Potter had hardly made as big an impact on her. Yes, she had been proud of them too, she reflected. But it wasn't greatness magically which made a person special, it was how much they gave back to the world, and how little it was noticed.
The fat Lady was happy with her place in life, she really did appreciate the job she had to play within Hogwarts. After all, it may have been many years since her job as matron of Gryfendor, but she still in a way held the same position. It was her responsibility to decide who could or couldn't enter the tower, and through that she was able to keep her students safe even at this time.
She regretted some things in her past as a portrait, and yet she knew there was nothing she could really change about it. And for once in her life she had someone who came regularly to talk to her about the goings on in the outside world. For years it had just been her and the other portraits within Hogwarts, with no real idea of what was going on outside except through the other portraits and what they could pick up, but now finally she had a friend.
Professor Granger spent many nights talking to the Fat Lady, in fact she was one of her favourite advisors within the castle. If she ever had an issue about anything she knew she could trust in the elderly lady who had been her guardian for so many years, and she knew she could always go back to her if she needed some comfort at bad times.
There was no one else who the elderly Headmistress could really talk to about all the times that had gone and all her school friends, and no one else who knew the mid of a Gryfendor better, but more than that in the Fat Lady Professor Granger had a friend.
Another short and sweet one shot about Hermione as Headmistress within Hogwarts. This one focusing around the Fat Lady and her job as door master of Gryfendor. Just random thoughts.
