"Elphaba?"
Glinda panicked, she had opened her eyes to silence. The green girl lying next to her wasn't breathing.
"Elphaba? Elphaba!"
She got up and shook Elphaba frantically.
"Elphaba! Please!"
Tears streamed down her face as, after what seemed like forever, she woke up.
"Elphie?" Glinda turned over in bed, fear still gripping her senses; she needed to be close to Elphaba, to feel her chest move in and out. For a moment, comfort was so close.
Then the cold press of a locket against her neck made her heart drop.
She remembered:
Elphaba was dead.
