"I can't believe it's our final year here, can you Harry?" Ginny heard Ron speak excitedly as he walked in front of her at King's Cross Station.
That's right. This was going to be Ron's last year at Hogwarts. Ron would probably move out like all of their other siblings before him once he finished his schooling at Hogwarts. Oh sure, Ginny would see him plenty as the Weasleys always tended to visit home quite often, but it just wouldn't be the same.
"You DO realize how many exams we're going to be taking this year, right?" Harry remarked back. This clearly burst Ron's bubbled, with Ron not realizing that Harry was half serious and half teasing him by bringing their exams up.
"You know it wouldn't be such a problem if you two actually studied." Hermione butted in, leaning in towards the two, but towards Ron especially. Ginny unconsciously pursed her lips.
"Yeah, but we'd have time for nothing else if we studied like you did," Ron responded to Hermione, in a half-annoying tone. He knew she was right. But he didn't want to admit it.
Ginny started tuning out the conversation the three were having as they were making their way to Platform 9 3/4. What was this feeling she started having over the summer? No, it started before then, she just first noticed it over the summer. Whenever she saw Ron, she would get a sudden fluttery feeling. She also wasn't happy seeing Ron and Hermione merrily chatting away either.
"But that's impossible isn't it?" Ginny thought to herself. Surely it's not what I think it is. He's my brother. No it has to be something else. But what?
"Oy! Ginny? Where are you going?" Ron's voice suddenly pulled Ginny out of her trance.
"Ye-Yes? What is it?" Ginny responded quickly looking around to try to appraise her situation.
"Blimey. I thought you were just going to walk straight onto the tracks. I know you're been a little - out there - lately, but watch where you're going." Ron was clearly about to grab her had she taken another step.
Ginny looked down at her feet. Another two steps and she would have walked straight off the platform into the pit where the tracks for the train in Kings Cross Station run.
"Oh, uh, sorry about that," Ginny turned towards Ron and once again felt fluttery and she could feel herself start to blush. Ron wasn't the scrawny boy that she knew when she arrived at Hogwarts six years ago.
"There you go again spacing out. Did taking the OWL's give you brain damage or something?" Ron said, rather annoyed at this point.
Ginny finally gained full awareness of her situation. Ron was standing next to her. The train was at the station. No one else was there. "Where did Harry and Hermione go?"
"They're already on the train. Jeez you have been spacing out. Come on." Ron grabbed Ginny's hand and led her to the train. Once again Ginny's heart fluttered.
