Well… um…. Woops.

Maka took one last twirl in front of the mirror; her black and white striped maxi dress flapping in the air. She ran her hand through her curled ponytail and wiped any bright red lipstick off her teeth. Her eyes quickly flashed to the falsies sitting on the edge of bathroom sink. "Hm… probably shouldn't" said Maka dreadfully aware of her inability to apply false eyelashes.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Yo Maka hurry it up in there! I need to brush my teeth!" shouted Soul from outside the bathroom door. Maka sighed realizing she was going to have to face the world, ready or not.

Gathering all her courage, she touched the cold metal of the doorknob; turning it with great suspense she finally opened the door.

"Yo Maka hur- whoa" said Soul shocked by Maka's glammed up appearance. Maka blushed and looked to the floor.

"D-do I look b-bad?" asked Maka scared of Soul's answer. Soul stared in shock, looking for the words to answer Maka's question.

"Y-you look gr- ok, but you're not curvy enough to wear that dress" said Soul trying to maintain his cool persona. Before Soul could even regret what he said, Maka pounced at him with her infamous "Maka Chop".

"God damn it Maka!" shouted Soul grasping his head in pain! Maka sighed. She didn't mean to hit him that hard. Offering a hand to him, she helped the injured Soul off the ground. Maka mumbled an apology before going into the living room.

After brushing his teeth, Soul went into the living room and sat down next to Maka.

"Hey we need to go" said Maka trying to get off the couch. However, Soul pushed her back down.

"First I need to ask, who is it?" asked Soul? Maka began to panic. Soul was on to her and she had no idea what to say. She could lie but Soul would easily be able to tell she was lying and there wasn't a Moby Dick or a War and Peace in arms length. The truth was the only option.

"B-Black*Star" said Maka blushing profusely. Soul staggered back at this announcement. He always thought that Maka thought of Black*Star like a little brother, but obviously not. "You can't tell anybody! Especially not Black*Star, it would only add to his ego" said Maka nervously.

"Whatever, lets just go" said Soul getting off the couch. Maka waited a couple of seconds before following.

When the two of them arrived at the DWMA, nobody could keep their eyes off of the new and improved Maka. Walking down the hallway, Maka heard a catcall or two, but she ignored them. She only wanted to impress one person nobody else mattered.

When she got into class, she heard an uproar of whispers. As she walked to her seat, Liz grabbed her and pulled her aside.

"Whoa! Ok who are you crushing on? Is it Kid?" asked Liz. Maka blushed and looked to ground. She knew she definitely shouldn't tell Liz but did she really have an option? Right know her only hope was that Stein would roll in and ask them to take their seats. Then, as if god parted the clouds and said I hate you Maka, Black*Star walked in.

"B-Black*Star" said Maka shamefully. Liz's face contorted grotesquely when Maka said this. Luckily before Liz could say anything, Stein rolled in.

"Take your seats"

Maka was safe for now. However, she knew she would have to face her fears eventually. She was just counting the minutes until she does.
