Unspoken
"All she had to do was tell him the truth. But sometimes, even she doesn't know what the truth is anymore." Beckett's reaction to the "talk" with Castle. 3x24 spoilers. Based off of the sneak peak.
She turned away from him. Her voice was caught in her throat. Did Castle, Richard-fucking-Castle of all people, just say that to her? She found her voice under all that, and it was pissed. She spun around on her heel, gearing up for a fight, when she caught his eyes.
His words may have been harsh and unforgiving, but his, those blue pools, were soft and warm. They were inviting.
The fight fled out of her at that moment. She couldn't pick a fight with the man standing before her, especially when she knew he was speaking the truth. She was going to die if she kept chasing this. But she had to. She had to get the justice that her mother deserved. She turned away from him again.
"Castle, you need to go home. This isn't your fight." She felt his hand around his upper arm.
"Like hell it isn't. Have you forgotten? I'm your partner." Beckett wrenched herself free.
"You have a daughter at home. And a mom. You have a family!" She felt him go still before he answered.
"And so do you. Your family may not be a blood related one, but you do have one. I know you do. Kate. Please, think of them." She almost turned back around, but she didn't.
"I need to do this Castle. Why do you care so much?" She knew that she was opening Pandora's Box, but she had to. She needed to know. He shifted so that he was standing directly behind her and reached for her hands, pulling them into his.
"Because I love you Kate. Because I want to wake up to you every morning knowing that you love me too." Her breath caught again. The cat was finally out of the bag.
But she couldn't say it back. Not now. Not when tomorrow was so uncertain. She pulled her hand out of his and turned back to face him, a new fire in her eyes. Castle obviously saw this, because his head dropped and he let out a soft sigh.
"Castle, you need to go." He nodded, not wanting to start a fight with her. He stepped around her and headed to the door, but was stopped by her voice again. "And Rick, we're through." He nodded again before dejectedly walking out the door.
Kate felt herself slump against the door as she made an ultimatum for herself. Once this was all over, providing that she survived, she would tell Castle everything. And she really meant everything.
But, first things first, she had a killer to find.
(A/N: Wow…just…wow. That sneak peak blew me away! And in return, you all get this. So, read, review, and survive until Monday. Cause I'm sure the episode of this will be better than my crap writing.
Au revoir!)
