Honour.
The word that may hold a very deep meaning for Shu generals. The word that caused many events. For the late Lord Liu Bei and his loyal men, honour was something they fought for, something they treasured, something they kept to reach their so-called benevolence. But for a certain young ruler, honour was a curse.

Liu Shan sighed. If it wasn't for honour, Lord Guan Yu and Lord Zhang Fei wouldn't die so quickly. If it wasn't for honour, Jiang Wei wouldn't act so reckless and caused a ruckus against Sima Zhao—and died because of that.
A drop of tear fell from the young ruler's eyes. How he hated the so-called honour that everyone was fighting for. How he regretted that he couldn't prevent Jiang Wei's rebellion and caused many of his men's death. Honour had made Jiang Wei so blind that he couldn't see what was the best decision for the troops and the people. Jiang Wei had claimed he acted in such a way for his late master's honour. Another thing Liu Shan couldn't comprehend. Wasn't their main goal to make a peaceful land where people could live a peaceful life, without wars? If they surrendered to Sima Zhao, the people and remaining Shu soldiers wouldn't have to participate in a war anymore. They could live peacefully under Sima Zhao's kingship. Liu Shan understood that, so he and his accomplices—including Xing Cai, his wife that he just married—decided to surrender to the Jin Kingdom and lived under their rules.
Jiang Wei's rebellion made Liu Shan sad, angry and disappointed. Because of his stupid reason—his late master's honour, Jiang Wei made many people's lives in danger. For Liu Shan, the most important thing was the people. Jiang Wei's honour had put the people in danger, so Liu Shan decided to put an end on it. Of course, taking his own friend's life saddened him, but Liu Shan would always prioritize his people. If one sacrifice could save many, Liu Shan would rather choose that.
Liu Shan then took a glance at the open window across his bed. The full moon was shining brightly, and he could still hear sounds of people chattering and music instruments played. Seemed some people were having a late night party—he had heard there was a wedding party not far from his residence. A small smile formed on Liu Shan's lips. Instead of feeling disturbed, Liu Shan felt peaceful. In the era of wars, the only sound he could hear at late night was the sound of patrolling soldiers' shoes. A party at this late night had made him realized that he was already at the era of peace.
The peace he enjoyed now was because he knew, that people were more important than honour—more important than the thing that blinded his predecessors and led them to nasty events. Liu Shan swore, he'd never follow his selfishness and desire for honour, and would always act for the sake of his people.
A/N : lol I haven't posted any fic for about two years or so and suddenly I posted this shitty short one shot. I'm also not sure what genre should I include this story as, so I'll leave it with general.
Anyways, I'm not quite sure if what I wrote was historically correct or DW-Universe-ly correct, since I've only played the Japanese version of DW7 and don't really understand the legend mode stories lol.
Also it's un-beta-ed so please forgive any spelling and grammar mistakes!
