"...We are bound by our choices, but more than our mistakes." Beckett looked back down at the speech she had prepared for this, Montgomery's funeral. The words she has spoken, Montgomery's own. Castle was standing a few feet away from Beckett. That's when he saw the light flicker across the tombstones. Castle furrowed his eyebrows some, wait, he thought, It's a gun.
"Kate!" He yelled and jumped in front of her, they both collapsed on the ground.
"Castle, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Beckett huffed from under him.
"I..." He breathed slowly, "Gun... You..." He started dozing off. That's when the blood started seeping through his white shirt under his jacket.
"Oh my god..." Beckett said and grunted as she moved him off of her. "Oh my god!" She said getting on her knees at his side, "Castle," She cupped his cheeks with both hands. By this time, the other guests at the funeral were hiding behind their chairs in case of another shot. Esposito, Is on the phone calling dispatch and Ryan, for an ambulance. "You stay with me, Castle!" Beckett said wiping the side of his face with her hand. "I need you..." She leant down whispering, "I can't live without you, Castle. I..."
A paramedic came over, "Hey." He kneeled down beside her, "I need to take over, here." Beckett took another long look at Castle. Too long. "Miss," He moved her away, "I need to get him to the hospital."
Beckett quickly stood up as Ryan and Esposito ran over, "Beckett, we got the gun." Esposito said taking her hand and pulls her away from Rick.
"How could I let this happen?" Beckett mumbled running her hand through her hair, "I knew he should've stayed in the audience with you guys."
"Don't even start blaming yourself, Beckett. Did you shoot him? No." Esposito said.
"I'm sorry I have to go too." Beckett said running after the paramedics who were now about to leave.
