An Angel's Farewell
My story has ended,
The words falling into silence,
and my life seems almost pretended.
Soon I shall be forgotten.
I wish that I knew exactly when.
Life was too brief,
A rose that withered
With the first touch of winter deep.
How does it feel to be loved?
A sad question I knew
That shall never be answered.
A moment in time,
We passed each other by
Are those tears in your eyes?
Tears that softly shine.
Tears that prove as a sign,
that my life is slowly draining away,
Oh, how those tears make me wish I could stay.
Leaving this world
Without saying goodbye,
I thought I heard you cry.
Turning back, I saw
Your lips that once clearly spoke my name.
your lips which began to pray,
asking me to stay.
I reached out my hand,
Wishing I could touch your face
Yet, I slowly begin to fade away.
My desire grows for another day.
A day to laugh,
a day to cry,
a life which has suddenly
passed me by.
Your image slowly begins to fade,
I reach out and try to escape,
out of the darkness toward your light.
Trying to regain your comforting sight.
Yet soon I realize I cannot win, and sadly restrain my fight.
My fight for another chance,
another breath,
another glimpse of what I could have been,
and what I became.
I stop and smile,
for I know it will only be a while,
until we meet again someday.
As I depart from this lonely world,
I shall live on forever
If only in your memories.
That is how I know we shall carry on.
As long as you remember me.
My story has ended,
