Giovanni swelled up, he couldn't believe that a mere boy had defeated him not once, but three times! The boy stared at him for a few moments, Giovanni stared back. What could the infernal child possibly want now!? He already had his stupid gym badge.
He then wondered what his employees would think of him after hearing upon his fresh defeat. He pictured hundreds of grunts laughing at him. His heart sank at the thought of this and he opened his mouth to speak, "Having lost in this fashion, I can't face my followers." The boy was surprised at this and his eyes widened.
Giovanni continued, "I have betrayed their trust. As of today, Team Rocket is finished forever! As for myself, I shall dedicate my life to training again. Let us meet again someday! Farewell!"
He then shoved his way past the boy and stormed out of the building. Was he really going to do this? Why not take the opportunity to catch the child by surprise? Maybe he could lie to his followers, say that he had crushed the boy who had caused so much trouble for their company, but he somehow knew they wouldn't swallow it.
He pulled out his mobile phone and sent a text to Koga with the words "it's finished". A reply came quickly, it said "WTF!?" He didn't bother to send a message back, there was no point any more. Koga could work things out for himself. He wondered what his son would think. Giovanni had been telling him stories from a very young age about how they would one day rule the world together, this was looking more like a pipe dream now.
He opened the door to his home and Silver came to greet him, "Hi, Dad. How has your day been?"
"It's over." Giovanni replied.
"What's over?"
"Everything. It's finished."
"What do you mean?"
"The boy I was telling you about, he's beaten me for a third time. At the gym."
Silver punched him. "You told me… you were the number one in the world! Are you gonna quit? What are you going to do now?"
Giovanni paused for a moment, he thought about his next words carefully, "One must acknowledge one's defeat before he can move on." He paused again, his stomach churning, "I will go solo...for now. So that one day I will form a stronger organisation!" He impressed himself with the passion he gave those last few words and started feeling slightly more confident about himself.
Silver was unimpressed, "What aspect of you was number one? Gathering so many only to be defeated by a mere child!"
Giovanni found this statement ironic, but rose above commenting, "Putting together the potential of many is how you produce a huge power, that's what an organisation is. That's the strength of an organisation! I failed… to make the best use of my subordinates' potential! But you shall witness one day the revival of me and my Team Rocket!"
"I don't understand you! You don't make any sense!" Silver was furious.
Giovanni lowered his head, "One day, you will understand."
"I don't want to understand you! I will never become someone like you. A coward when you're alone and acting like a tyrant when you're in front of other cowards! I will become strong! I will become a stronger man all by myself! All by myself!"
Giovanni couldn't believe that those words had come from his son's mouth. He hadn't expected a reaction quite so explosive. He started to feel slightly worried about Silver. He decided not to say anything else, he simply turned and walked out of the door.
