A Time Like No Other

D/c: I don't own.

Kaye lay back on the bed in her Grandmother's house, sighing.

It was one of her rare days to herself. She didn't like them much, since they took her away from Roiben. Of course, she didn't like anything that seemed to take her from Roiben. But he needed his days to rest, and she wasn't going to take that away from a fey worked to the bone. There was nothing more dangerous than edgy Fey. Especially when said faerie happened to be the ruler of the Unseelie courts and was balancing his kingdom and the threat of war from the Seelie Court. She wanted to help, but she wasn't accustomed to the ways of fey. They were fickle in their loyalties. Capricious.

She held her hand in front of her face, watching the green digits curl and uncurl. Nothing would ever make her get used to the fact that she had wings and green skin.

Except her knight in black armor.

With a secretive smile, she rolled onto her belly, burrowing her head under the pillow. Even then, with her senses, she could hear the light breathing of her Grandmother, and the sounds of pitter pattering feet as her rats ran around their cage. But she felt so tired, and, with a yawn, she fell into a dreamless sleep.
