I do not own Star Trek or any of the characters in this story.

It was almost one o'clock in the morning, and Quark was still up. He himself did not full understand why he was still awake. He kept glancing at his watch every now and then. Waiting...Waiting...Waiting for what? He asked himself.

He tried to envision how his latest scheme would work out. He would meet the bajoran smuggler at 3:00 next week. He would give the smuggler the nitro glycerin and be paid 36 bars of gold pressed latinum. Then Quark would go back to the bar, serve a few drinks, and wait for Odo. Wait for Odo? He shook this thought from his head and concentrated. No, he would watch out for the no good changeling. No doubt at some point Odo would walk into the bar and question him. He would give Quark the usual disqusted look and storm off in his beige security officer uniform that fit him ever so perfectly.

Desperate to shake these almost disturbing thought from his head, Quark looked once more at his gold watch. The Defiant should have been back by now. They all should have been sleeping in their beds, and Odo regenerating in his pail. What if something had happened to them? What if they were being held prisoner? Or even worse, what if they were dead? Quark suddenly couldn't get the image of a dead Odo out of his mind.

Quark remembered some sedatives he had in his drawer that he'd confiscated from a male ferengi trying to slip it in someone's drink. He wondered how fast they would knock him out. No, he had to stay awake and wait for Odo. Why? Why should he wait for Odo? It wasn't as if he was expecting him.

Quark's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of multiple footsteps. He opened the doors of the bar and looked to see who it was. It was the crew members of The Defiant. He saw Odo walking towards his quarters. Quark smiled, locked up the bar, and headed to his own quarters. He needed some sleep.
