This came from me writing.. nonchalantly.

heh.

enjoy.

Look at where (Exhaustion) gets you

He sees Artemis shoot her grappling arrow, he sees her jump off the building blindly (carelessly!), trusting her aim to be true, he sees the green arrow soar, he sees her arrow miss.

What he doesn't see is Conner jump down and catch her before she reaches the bottom (and go SPLAT like his parents), ensuring her safety.

It had been a long week in Gotham, and an even longer week for the infamous Batman and Robin- two seemingly nocturnal vigilantes (that wasn't true though, Bruce made him go home once- when he'd almost slipped off a ledge. Robin called it recent rain, Batman called him a liability). In total, the boy had gotten close to a total of six hours of sleep to rest- relax his mind. To remind himself that he wasn't eight years old anymore, and that he was with a group of people who were highly trained professionals. Artemis was trained to absorb the impact even if Connor hadn't caught her. Besides, it was only five stories up.

(it was ten with his parents)

Gasping for breath Robin practically crumbled to the ground, ignoring his friends concerned shouts (he can only hear the snap of the wires). It's playing over and over now (they're falling), no matter how much he wants it to stop (falling still). Dick (Robin was created the moment he saw them go SPLAT on the ground) can feel a set of slim arms encompass him (like circumference, pi times diameter equals circumference), distant voices asking what's wrong. But that's the problem, the person was crowding (crowding; to fill something so that there is little or no room for anyone or anything else: to take up much or most of the space in an area or space) him. He needed space, Dick needed air.

M'gann knew more or less what was happening. The Martian knew enough about Earth to recognize a panic attack when she saw one. She'd already tried to enter his mind, to see what was wrong, but was almost immediately shunted out by scenes of what appeared to be people falling. But what would set off-?

Oh. Right.

Artemis.. she fell.

She squeezed her arms around his shaking frame tighter, feeling the exhaustion that'd been around him since his arrival at the cave increase ten-fold.

"Shh," M'gann murmurs, and, unconsciously, the girl changes her vocals to sound more like a certain Mary Grayson because she knows what he's feeling (she knows who Mary is), after all, she is telepathic, "It's okay, Robin, you're okay, esti bine"(1).

The results are almost spontaneous. Instantly, thirteen year-old Dick Grayson relaxes into her hold. She feels his mind slow down considerably, to the point where it seems like he's sleeping. Not before a slurred, "Te iubesc, mamă."(2) of course.
