Haunted

By Jacey

Whether or not this is based on the actual happenings of Grey's Anatomy, I have no idea. I haven't watched in at least two seasons…. But I have heard vague rumours about deadDenny!Ghost. I have since writing this, also seen various bits of episodes, including much of the Izzie Arc. Nuff said.

I wrote this.. months ago, and sent it to a beta, who never got back to me, so I'm posting it un-beta'd.

Enjoy.

When Meredith tells Izzie that she's seen Denny – that she's talked to Denny, and that for some weird reason he's kind of… haunting her, Izzie doesn't tell her she's crazy, or that this isn't a horror movie – she can't see dead people. Instead, she says nothing and walks away. She curls up in bed that night, head under the blankets, wondering why SHE didn't get to see Denny. Even dead Denny has got to be better than no Denny at all.

And then, she gets on with life. Okay, so life has taken a different turn, with time spent executing split second turns at random moments, just incase Denny's following her; and peering into empty rooms and around corners, because well… you never know right?

But eventually, she gives up. Denny's apparently not haunting HER. Besides, it's probably some horrible kind of omen, having a dead man follow you around. Maybe, Izzie thinks to herself, maybe Meredith's dying. That'd be a perfectly good reason for someone who is DEAD to be turning up randomly. And then, she gets a little worried about her sanity when she gets oh-so-slightly pissed off and jealous of Meredith for maybe-probably-not-dying, when she doesn't get to. Besides, she probably shouldn't be wishing death on one of her best friends.

In the end, days pass…. weeks turn into months, and Izzie's all but forgotten (but not really, because it's kind of hard to forget your dead-fiancée haunting people) that Denny even existed in a non-corporeal form. Until one night, as she's drifting off to sleep, and through sleep hazed eyes, she sees Denny leaning against the door frame, a cocky grin on his face, and winking at her.

That's when she wonders if maybe she's the one who's dying.
