"C'mon. Whoever wins gets the paopu fruit," Riku teased, waving the yellow, star shaped fruit in front of him. Sora smiled, looking at his best friend."Just like old times, huh?"Riku's demeanor went from playful to throughtful as he gently lowered the fruit. The smile disappeared from his lips. Sora, frantic he had brough back bad memories, tried to think of a way to turn it into a joke. Just as he came up with one, Riku spoke."It's not like old times. We've both grown up a little, and changed a whole lot. Hell, we help keep the worlds balanced! And you know what Sora?"The younger male looked up at him."I wouldn't have it any other way."Sora smiled, dread leaving his chest. "Yeah. Me either."Riku sat down on the pier, legs hanging off. All thoughts of a race were off. Sora sat next to him, watching the calm waves. "Who would you share the paopu fruit with?" Riku thought about that one. For a long time. It didn't seem right to him that he should have to choice just one of his many friends. But all of his thoughts kept cycling back to his silver haired friend. The one who knew him like no other. The one who knew his nightmares that haunt him each night. And when he finally made his choice, he freared it would mean something different out loud than in his head."I know who I would share one with," Riku said, leaning back."Whose that?" Sora wondered out loud."You." Sora whipped his head around to see Riku looking at him seriously. "Really. You're my best friend. It wasn't that hard for me to choose."Sora was still recovering, but he smiled and layed down on the wooden planks. "Wanna split one then?"Riku raised his eyebrows, but split the fruit. As the two ate, Riku broke the silence. "I really hop eyou didn't just say that because I did."Sora shook his head. "Nope. I mean, who else would put up with my snoring?"They laughed, and Riku marvelled at the fact that he was actually binding himself with Sora. Unlike what most people think, he took this legend quite seriously. After seeing all of the different worlds and learning everything about light and darkness, hearts, Nobodies, and Heartless...why shouldn't he believe it? Then with being apart from his best friend for nearly three years, Riku was terrified of being seperated from him never know when you're going to see him again, Riku thought, and with a shaky breath, he took one of Sora's hands in his own. Sora looked up from his fruit, gave Riku a giant smile, and squeezed his would be alright.
