A/N: This idea came to me after a conversation with the lovely Violetdoodlebug in which I made an attempt to get to write something based on a conversation and she said I should write it so here it goes.. There will be a part 2 I promise.

She knew the moment it happened that this is where they would be. It happens every time only this time feels worse.

It was a joint OP with the CIA and she had to go under with none other than Sabatino and Deeks hated it, if he went under with her it would have blown the whole OP because it was Mike Foster a man he had arrested numerous times for drug possession and B&E before making detective and even though his hair was longer the man would still recognize him on the streets. It appears their guy had moved up in crimes since.

"Deeks it was just a cover kiss it meant nothing. Why can't you understand that?" she asks plopping down on her couch

"You didn't see it on the big screen in ops like I did Kensi, I saw the way you looked at him." he says pacing back and forth in their home where they have lived for six months. The best six months of their lives, or so he thought.

"I had to sell my cover Deeks and you know it." she says

"Our first kiss was just a cover kiss remember?." he says

Her heart breaks at his words remembering how she insisted it was just that but knowing it never was.

"I just gotta know who are you trying to convince me or yourself?" he says

"What the hell is that suppose to mean Deeks?" the words cut deep and she can't hide the pain now because in this moment she's realized he's given up on them. One case that he couldn't back her up on because of his undercover work past and he's done.

"Come on Kensi don't act stupid with me now." he looks at her seeing the confusion on her face wondering how she can forget the first case working with that ass. "Let me refresh your memory a little.. me and Deeks? No, we're barely even partners"

There it was the final words to break her resolve "I was in denial and you know it Deeks."

"Were you? Because what I saw tonight was you cozying up to another guy.. maybe you thought that maybe getting closer to him would give you chance to have Jack back"

"Jack made his choice when he left me on Christmas morning Deeks! You of all people should know I won't go back to that" she shouts

"I don't know the way you two hugged after we rescued you.. seemed to me there was still a flame between you two" he says

"Why don't you just cut the crap and tell me it's over that we are done Deeks?"

"That's not true and you know it Kens"

"I don't know Deeks the way I see it now you're just looking for a way out. Everything you have said tonight has been nothing but daggers to my heart and I just can't take it anymore. It's like you have unleashed a side that none of us have ever seen before." she says wiping away her tears. She gets up and starts packing a bag she doesn't know where she is going but tonight she can't be here it hurts too much.

The weeks pass and things just get worse they finally close out the case and unbeknownst to him and the rest of the team she packs her desk up and says a final goodbye to everybody and walks out of the office one last time. She's not really surprised when she turns around from shutting her back door and sees him standing there confusion and hurt written all over his face.

"Where you going?" he asks

"I uh.. I asked Hetty for a transfer when things got worse between us. I'm sorry Deeks." she's fighting the tears because the hurt in his eyes and she looks away

"Where to?" he asks not sure if he's going to like the answer

"The south eastern field office in Florida. It turns out one of their agents got injured on the job and they needed a temp." she says

"Will you ever come back?" he inquires

There is so much meaning to that question she knows what he really means will she ever come back to him and she honestly doesn't know "I still got my mom here and then there's the team. So yeah I'll come back for a visit, but moving back Deeks.. I just don't know right now."

He understands her stand point right now who can really blame her the man she truly loved accused her of loving another. "Be careful out there"

"I will be" she says as she kisses him one last time on the cheek. "Bye Deeks" and gets in the car and just like that she can't hold back the tears and neither can he.

She pulls out of the parking lot and Deeks walks back inside and sits at his desk.

One Mississippi, two Mississippi
Counting down the seconds, standing in the wreckage of love
On a cold grey Jackson dawn
Oh I just can't watch this, sure can't stop this
I keep waiting, your tail lights are fading, I see
You're already gone
I'm half of who I used to be,
One Mississippi
