Mikey was lying on his stomach in his bed, the blankets were pulled up to his shoulders. He hadn't really moved from that position in the past four days, mostly due to the fact that his shell had been marginally dislocated. Splinter and Donnie had bandaged Mikey up and applied a homemade cast to assist the healing, but Mikey would be on bed rest for a minimum of five more days. Raph had volunteered to watch over Mikey for the majority of the healing time, and now spent most of his time on a beanbag beside Mikey's bed.
Mikey had spent the first two days mostly just sleeping, with a few interruptions, but was now feeling up to watching television. Casey had lugged a large pile of cables down to the lair, and showed Raph how to hook Mikey's TV up to the laptop, so they could watch anime. Mikey was pretty happy about this, because he and Raph could watch virtually anything now, before this, all they could watch was just weird old tapes that he'd found behind a dumpster. Mikey found that Raph agreed to watch almost everything Mikey suggested. Mikey located "Lucky Star" on an anime website, and insisted they marathon all twenty-four episodes.
Raph sighed as he turned on the first episode, based off the cover picture he guessed it was about Japanese school girls. Raph was a bit taken aback by the suddenness of the intro, but relaxed a bit when Mikey started singing along in the fast paced Japanese. The first episode was rather weird, especially because they left the subtitles off, and a few of the characters talked rather fast, but Raph got the idea after a while. By the fifth episode, Raph was singing the theme song with Mikey.
After the eighth episode ended, Raph turned to ask Mikey if he wanted something to eat before they started the ninth episode, only to find that Mikey had fallen asleep. Raph settled back onto the beanbag and watched his sleeping brother. Mikey was so peaceful like this, it could make anyone's heart melt. Raph reached over and gently rubbed Mikey's shell, carful about how much pressure he applied, and steering clear of the bandages. Raph's mind wandered as he let the rise and fall of Mikey's shell lull him into a state of peace.
The door opened slowly and Leo stuck his head in, "You two okay in here?" Leo asked in a low voice. Raph nodded slightly, and Leo left after reminding Raph to just call them if he changed his mind. Raph was glad Leo didn't stay, he was still mad at Leo for practically ignoring Mikey when Tiger Claw knocked him out. Raph felt his anger welling up in his chest at the memory.
Raph was brought back from his thoughts by the rustling of Mikey's bed sheets. "Don't be mad at him." Mikey said, his eyes were barely cracked open.
"Why shouldn't I be mad at him?" Raph replied in a biting tone. "Just look at you!"
Mikey sat up with a small sound that Raph could only describe as a cross between a groan and grunt. "Was that supposed to be an insult?" Mikey asked with a little grin.
"Your shell's practically busted, and now you're having trouble sitting up! And Leo thought it wasn't enough of a problem that we had to go home!" Raph was nearly shouting, he felt his face grow hot in anger, and was vaguely aware of his hands curling into fists.
Mikey leaned forwards and wrapped his arms around Raph, nuzzling into his older brother. "I'm sure he didn't realize." Mikey soothed, "From what I hear, things got pretty wild."
"Yeah, I guess." Raph responded, wrapping his arms gently around Mikey in return. "But he still could have made sure you were okay."
Mikey just hummed a bit and cuddled closer to Raph, gently scratching near the rim of Raph's shell. "He couldn't possibly know how bad it was." Mikey stated.
"He's the leader! It's his job to know!" Raph shouted, standing up quickly and almost toppling Mikey over in the process.
"By that logic, Sensei shouldn't have let us go to the surface, and Donnie should know how to use the toaster without a hula-doll." Mikey retorted calmly.
Raph had to think for a moment to figure out what Mikey's point was there. Mikey was grinning at him, it was cute, how did he do that? Suddenly Raph realized that he had been distracted from his thoughts of Leo, and wasn't really angry anymore. How did Mikey do that?
Raph sighed, "I guess there is a flaw in my logic." He admitted.
"Now," Mikey began, "Can we order a pizza or something? I'm starving."
