Rainbow Six: Iron Thunder (Based off of Rainbow Six By Tom Clancey)

Chapter 1

As usual, on the routine six mile early morning run it was dark, rainy, and bitterly cold even for the top notch ten man Rainbow strike team. It had been difficult adjusting to the cold ever since shipping out to Siberia even for team ones leader, Domingo Chavez. They had been deployed there from their base in Hartford, England, as a part of the UN initiative to generate peace between the Russians and Chinese after a bloody feud over what both sides thought or perceived as their territory and truthfully in Domingo's opinion there was no real reason for them to be there. Honestly what did an international anti-terrorism strike team have to do with keeping peace between two nuclear nations? About 3 miles into the run Domingo's secured cell phone began to ring, "Oh shit what now?" He muttered as he answered the sleek silver cellular. "Team One, Ding Speaking," he announced, waiting in anticipation for what was to come.
"Ding, its Clark we got a situation in Moscow," the rainbow coordinator said in a rather animated voice. "Their president's chief security advisor Golovko has been taken hostage in his compound just outside the city by what is stated to be Chechen rebels, unfortunately Intel suggests there may be a little more to this one," he said.
"Roger John what's team ones status on this one?" Domingo inquired knowing what the answer would be. "Your team is go for all assets, get them readied with full tactical breach and hostage rescue gear, and down to the airstrip for rendezvous with the USAF C-130 call sign Night Stalker. You'll be flying directly into Moscow International where a Russian military convoy will meet and transport your team out to the site, briefing will be onsite," instructed Domingo's boss. "Understood, also do we have any local helicopter air assets on this one?" "Affirmative, there is a single US Army Pave Hawk Helicopter enroute from exercises with the Russians outside Moscow and should be arriving on scene about the same time as you." "Who's calling the shots on scene?" requested Domingo. "You are as soon as you arrive, but until then its one General Sergy Chezinski who is known to be a very good strategic operations commander so trust his instincts." "Okay John, we'll be suited up and ready to fly in the hour," stated Domingo. "Roger, good luck," commented Clark not realizing how much Ding would end up needing it in the operation to come. Domingo immediately closed his phone and turned to his team, "okay boys, lets saddle up for full tactical, we got a situation in Moscow and we're shipping out in an hour, so move quick!" Ding shouted and promptly turned and began to run back towards their ops center with team one on his heels.
