Author's Note: First, I've never written for Supernatural before, but this had kinda been floating around in my head all day so I jotted it down. Second, my intent was not to offend anyone so if you don't agree with the viewpoint on Easter and God in here, please remember that this is what I think Dean would think of Easter, not what I actually hold to be true (I happen to truly believe that Easter is about remembering Christ's death and resurrection, but I don't think Dean would agree with my view)

Disclaimer: Supernatural doesn't belong to me; I'm merely borrowing for my own entertainment.

Easter was always one of those weird non-holiday holidays that Dean never really got. Sure, the chance to pig out on chocolate bunnies and jelly beans was real appealing when he was a little kid, back when his mom was alive and they still celebrated holidays at all, but when he found out that Easter meant more than just the Easter bunny to some folks... Well, that was when he decided he really just didn't get it.

Because who the hell would actually want to celebrate their particular deity getting offed and then coming back alive again? Sounded like a haunting for sure, and he just couldn't understand why people would want to commemorate something like that.

It probably didn't help matters much that he didn't believe in their God in the first place, but unlike Sammy, who wanted to believe in something else out there to balance out the evil, Dean was pretty damn sure there wasn't.

This Easter, though... Well, finding out that God, and angels, and all the rest of that crap was real was a great way to turn his world upside down and make him rethink stuff. And while Dean's still pretty sure this Easter thing is still just messed up, he's kinda got a new perspective on why that is.

Sure, the resurrection thing makes a bit more sense now that he's been, well, resurrected. If God can drag his ass outa hell, makes sense he could do it for someone else. He'll even buy that God probably did off his own son - sounds like his M.O.

And that's what he doesn't get now - all these people worshipping a God who at best simply doesn't care about what's going on in the world, and at worst is into using people like pawns and tossing them out when he's done with them. They make this big deal about how much God loves the world, but Dean knows better - God doesn't care, and he's letting the world go to pieces with the Apocalypse without stepping in. And that's assuming it wasn't his idea in the first place.

So yeah, Dean'll buy the whole tortured, beaten, broken guy dying on a cross because God wanted it that way. He just doesn't know why anyone would ever think that was something good, rather than the most depressing thing he's heard since he found out he and Sam were destined for front row seats to Armageddon. And Easter just moved to the top of his list of holidays that suck, for hitting too damned close to home.
