A/N: I've had this written for awhile…Seeing the kittens at my friend's house last night gave me the inspiration to post it. It's not my greatest work--I wrote it mainly to make the plot bunnies go away--but I figured I'd share.

"Awww!"

The delighted shriek had come from Leesie Rennings, who cooed as she watched the kittens gamboling in their cage. They mewed softly, their tiny, high-pitched voices piercing her heart.

"Oh, John, can't we take one?" she questioned. "I want that one. See, the little orange one? Isn't she absolutely precious?"

"I--" he began, running a hand through his hair anxiously.

She opened the cage and picked the kitten up, cradling it against her chest. Meanwhile, he wondered how he'd gotten himself into this. And how he was going to fix it.

"Please?" she pled, turning big green eyes on him.

"Lees, you know I'm more of a dog person…"

"And I'm more of a skinny-emo-kid person, but I'm with you, aren't I?"

"Oh, now that was cold."

"But, Sweetheart, look at her!" the rock star insisted, offering her to him to hold. "I think I'll call her…Charlotte."

"You didn't just name the cat," he groaned.

Leesie pressed her lips to the kitten's soft head.

"Nahhh, she's more of a Cinderella, don't you think? I had a kitten named Cinderella when I was little. She looked just like this little angel."

The small animal mewed and nuzzled closer to Leesie, who smiled down at her.

"Oh, you like that, don't you?" she murmured. "Okay, then. That's what we'll call you."

"Lees--"

"He doesn't want you now, but he'll change his mind, I promise."

"Leesie."

"He's just mad because he thinks I'll love you more than I love him."

"Leesie!"

"I don't, though…Sorry, Sweetheart, but it's not possible. You'll just have to get used to second place."

Leesie smiled up at John, who was seething despite the compliment he vaguely knew was somewhere in there.

"What'd you need, Babe?"

"Would you please stop talking to it?" he asked in irritation.

"Look," she said seriously, pouting slightly. "I get really lonely when you're gone. I promise she won't bother you…I just need someone to talk to and cuddle when you're not home."

"She's not sleeping with us."

A grin spread across her face.

"Of course not."

She stood on tiptoe and kissed him soundly.

"Thank you."

"You know this means we're trying out that new brand of--"

"John!" she hissed, blushing, although she was trying not to giggle. "There are children present."

"Well, then…let's not waste any time getting out of here," he smirked.

"Hold her for a moment while I grab the towel I packed…it's raining out there, remember?"

Bemused, the Superstar held out his hands to take the kitten from her. She dug the teal towel from her bag and looked up to find Ella nuzzling John's face.

"Aww, she likes you!" she squealed. "That's adorable."

"What can I say? Women love me," he smirked.

She rolled her eyes and took the kitten from him.

"What do you say we get out of here and introduce Ella to her new home?" she asked sweetly, scratching her chin. "Aww, she's purring…"

"I'm not going to say it…"

"Good. Come on, Hun; let's go."
