Jango held tightly to the side of the speeder as Zam steered them recklessly through the Coruscanti nighttime, speeding, dodging, and generally causing Jango to wonder whether his friend was still sane. "Why do you insist on driving like this?" Jango asked tersely as they dropped a good story downwards to avoid an oncoming freight speeder. Zam gave Jango a mischievous smirk, before turning back to the hoverlane, "It's fun." She said simply, "This is about getting you to loosen up, remember?" Jango sighed and kept his eye on his partner's hands as she steered wildly through the atmosphere.

Zam had suggested they go to Coruscant to take a break from their normal duties as bounty hunters. When Jango told her that he didn't indulge in things like breaks, she had put on a face of mock horror on and practically dragged him to Coruscant to teach him about the 'restorative effects of being irresponsible.' The first thing Zam had done once they arrived was to 'borrow' a speeder and proceed to break almost every traffic violation Jango could think of.

Zam's hands ventured away from the steering controls long enough to reach for the radio and turn the volume up loud enough to stun a midsized bantha. The radio belted out pounding, bass-heavy music that seemed to shake the speeder as they flew. Jango wished he his helmet right now, if only for the muting function. He reached for the radio and turned the volume down to a more manageable decibel count. Zam rolled her eyes like an annoyed teenager, "You'd think somebody who worked in an environment with blasters constantly firing would have a larger tolerant for speeder radio." She teased.

"Humans have a lower decibel tolerance than Clawdites." Jango said evenly. Zam shrugged, "We'll compromise, then." She reached for the volume dial and changed the volume to somewhere in between their two preferences. Jango relaxed slightly. He was starting to get used to Zam's erratic driving and the pounding music. He looked out the side of the speeder. It was actually enjoyable, Jango realized, in a weird, gritty way, to watch the jagged lights speed by as the music continued to grind in the back of his skull. He could see why Zam seemed to like Coruscant so much.

Zam glanced over at Jango who had fallen silent during the ride. To her surprise, the tense expression that had been on his face only minutes ago had been replaced by a contented smile. Jango rarely smiled and it was something that always managed to catch Zam's eye. She wondered if she was just good at catching things like that or if he just smiled more around her. Jango seemed to notice that the speeder had stopped its lunatic maneuvers and looked over at Zam for an explanation. Their eyes met for a moment and Zam caught a look of understanding flicker across his features before being replaced by a knowing and slightly smug expression. He seemed to know she had been staring at him. Zam quickly turned her eyes back to the road, just in time to dodge an oncoming speeder. The driver looked back at her and made a universally rude gesture. Zam returned the sign with vigor. She heard Jango laugh, but when she looked back at him, he was looking the other way, though Zam could still detect a concealed smile on his face. Zam chuckled, "I knew Coruscant would help you relax!" she said, proud that she had been the one to pry a genuine laugh from his somber façade, "Maybe later you'll loosen up enough to go to one of those great Coruscanti nightclubs I've told you about." She looked over and savored the slightly alarmed expression on his face. "Don't worry, I'm kidding." She added with a laugh. She waited until his attention was back on the city lights before adding "For now."
