3 Drabbles from Kara's perspective. It's obvious who they're about, and you should be able to tell when in the seasons each 'takes place' (hint: THE THIRD ONE IS FROM THE LAST EPISODE :P).

Disclaimer: I don't own Starbuck, or BSG. They belong to many geniuses, such as Ron D. Moore.

She knows that she doesn't deserve him. He is too normal; a normality that should make her sneeze with the strangeness of it compared to her experiences. Yet he grounds her in a way she's never believed she could be before, a way that makes her cook him dinner and listen to her father's music without any trace of bitterness, the way she hasn't since she was a child. She found herself staring at her ring just the other day, feeling…peace.

This is why she will hurt so much when he dies, why her eyes regain that haunted, wild edge.

Sometimes she loves him like she loves him, with deep pulses of lust and threads of camaraderie and shared tragedy. Sometimes she loves him like she loved his brother, sweetly like molasses and with a hope for many more days to come. Often, she thinks that what she really loves is frakking him; he is lean and long in all the right places and joins in her wild-edged laughter. The best times are when she just loves him, the times when she looks at him and knows that he is hers.

Her Sam. She will always remember him that way.

If ever a man could make her run in fear, it was him. Even Leoben is not as frightening. From the very first there was something about him that sparked a familiarity in her spirit. He is so unlike her, so morally rigid and linear, yet there is the same yearning in him that there is in her, the uncertainty of where he is wanted. Oh, how she's wanted him. Enough to defy her gods, her marriage. But not enough to defy her own fear.

And now she must leave him again. But she cannot regret. She is done here.
