My name is Michael Schmidt. And I have the most interesting life of any pizzeria worker in the whole world. And I've only been here for a week.
"Really? Fifteen minutes after we left?!" David exclaimed in surprise at Sophie, who was telling us that she was hungry. This was only just after we left a parking lot after an hour long debate between me and Jeremy about who should drive after he almost swerved off the road.
"Hunger strikes when it does, dick. Now go, Mike."
"Where?!" I asked to the only female human on our team.
"To Neverland. MCDONALD'S, DUMBASS!"
"We don't need to." I responded. "Check under your seat."
Sophie looked under her seat and found what I hoped she would, an unopened 1.2 pound bag of off-brand potato chips.
"Holy shit Mike, where'd you get that?" David asked me, rudely shoving his hand in the gigantic bag and taking out a fistful of chips.
"From the sky. Or maybe I found it underneath a trash can." David scoffed at my sarcastic answer and stuffed another handful of the sliced potatoes in his mouth.
It was nighttime when we got to the City of Angels. Jeremy's car was almost out of gas, and so were we.
"Michael, buddy. I know we said we needed to get to Vegas, but I can't." David said.
"I second that." Mr. Fazbear replied.
"I also need to rest." Jack stated.
"Okay, okay. We'll pull in at the next mote-"
"THERE! THERE!" Sophie interrupted. "THAT'S THE LOT WHERE THE SUPERVAN IS!"
I made a turn so sharp I heard the car skid and horns from unhappy drivers behind me.
"Nice one, Mike. You know, I'm still gonna need this car after this is all over." Jeremy said.
"Well at least I didn't almost run us off the road earlier." Jeremy rolled his eyes and looked forward.
I parked in one of the many spaces available and got out of the car.
"Alright. Let's go." I commanded, everyone following suit. We came across a blood red van with a blue roof, and stared.
"Well. The "Supervan" doesn't look so super to me." Jeremy scoffed, rebuffing the idea of the van being better than normal.
"That's because that's not my Supervan." Sophie pulled out some keys and pressed a small button on top. We heard the small chirp of a car being unlocked, and then a crash as an all-black van smashed through the rusted chain-link surrounding the private car lot. We all went slack-jawed as it pulled right up to us, the back doors popping open. Jeremy let out a low whistle of approval and Sophie stood proud.
"THAT'S my Supervan."
"HOW THE HELL DOES IT DRIVE ITSELF?!"
"That's only one of the features of this thing. I swindled it off of this government AWOL that needed to change his identity. I got him to give me the van AND fifty dollars. I didn't really know what to do with a Supervan, since everything in New Silver is within walking distance, so a had a guy run it up to the woods behind his lot for me. And so it's here. Thank god it is, too. The woodlands of LA aren't exactly the safest place. Anyway, hop in! I'll give you the tour." We clambered inside, an apparent battle for the front seat, and I came out on top. The others groaned and sat in the seats that ran along the walls, almost like the seats on a military plane.
"So," Sophie said, shutting the doors. "Now that you are inside you can see the inside of the doors." We looked at the doors in question and saw that they were decorated in white carpet. Normal enough. "They are projector screens." She pulled down the window covers and pushed a small button on the dashboard. A beam of multi-colored light came from a small hole in the rear-view mirror. The wallpaper of a computer was cast onto the doors.
"Pop that lever next to you, Jeremy." Sophie directed.
"Umm, alright." He pulled it and a keyboard and mouse came out. "Woah, this is some really high tech stuff, Sophie!"
Freddy piped up. "You know, you have a living, breathing machine right next to you."
"Besides you, Furball."
Jeremy took the keyboard and mouse, controlling the projected monitor.
"Wow, this is a really advanced system! You could get into the FBI with this thing!" Jeremy exclaimed, almost as though a kid does when presented with a large amount of candy.
"Yeah. I love this van." Sophie smugly replied.
"Yes, yes. We all love the extremely powerful van. But we also love sleep. It is essential for a team to have sleep. Otherwise, it falls apart." Freddy wisely spoke our minds.
"Alright then, let's get to a motel." Sophie decided, clapping her hands.
"Where?"
"David, this is LA. There's always some sketchy inn you can stay at."
"Nine rooms, one night please." I said, pulling out a small stack of the cash we had.
"That'll be one-hundred-and-eighty dollars." The lady behind the counter said, handing over nine small keys. "Where are the other three?" Damn it. I was hoping nobody noticed. We had decided it was probably best to keep the animal-eared humanoids in the van, and sneak them in through a window. I decided to make something up on the spot.
"Uh, the extra three rooms are for bonuses."
"Bonuses?"
"Y-Yeah! It technically counts as nine nights. The tenth night is free, in any of your inns, right?"
"Uh, yeah. Whatever, all of your rooms are adjacent to one another, they are the nine rooms on ground floor in the swimming pool hall." I thanked her and led the others to the rooms.
I opened the solid oak door into a hallway. The rooms were lined up very simply. Four rooms on each side of the long hallway, and two doors at the very end of the hallway. One labeled "9" and one labeled "Pool".
"Goodnight." Everyone said, walking into the first five rooms. I guess that leaves me to do the work of letting in the Androids. I walked over to the pool and opened the door. Immediately an overpowering smell of chlorine rushed into the long hallway, resonating in my lungs as I stepped into the humid room.
"Aaah... I could chill in here for the night and love it." I said to nobody in particular.
"Well it's a good thing that this will be your final resting place, isn't it?" I heard.
And then the cold steel of a gun was pressed against my temple.
