Silver
Lavi Bookman had noticed it a while ago; the fact that Allen Walker, The Destroyer of Time, was different. And not just different, he was strange. His eyes, they changed colors. Now, normally Lavi wouldn't care if such a minor thing changed in a person. But Allen, Allen was different. Because when his eyes shifted color, so did his personality.
It had been after Allen and Kanda returned from their mission to locate and bring the new Accommodator back. They had returned with Timothy in tow, and Allen's eyes had been white then. Lavi had thought nothing of it, it was probably the light. Or, that's what he thought before he had talked to Allen. The younger Exorcist had pasted a smile on his face; a fake smile that would of fooled anyone that wasn't a Bookman. Allen was lying, and that's when it hit Lavi. Allen's behavior had shifted, his barriers were let down and for a mere moment Lavi was seeing true emotion. He was seeing Allen without his forced politeness.
This Allen was sharp, he had a quick tongue and wasn't afraid to use it. He snapped at Lavi when the redhead pushed to much for answers. This Allen was what remained of the boy that had been abandoned on the streets all those years ago.
The next day Allen found him, he apologized profusely; claiming that he had been feeling ill the previous day. That he was so sorry that he had acted like that. Lavi waved the apologies off, taking note of the fact that Allen's eyes were grey now.
Lavi was familiar with this Allen, it was the one that he saw almost everyday. This Allen was the one that Mana had crafted carefully, this one was used as a buffer; it would withstand the harshness of the world. Because being polite and nice and sweet worked well for Allen, it had helped him survive, it was what Mana had taught him.
A week later Lavi stumbled upon a new Allen, this one had pitch black eyes and smiled mischievously at those around him. This was Cross' Allen, it was the teen that had been forced to adapt and use underhanded techniques to survive.
The black-eyed Allen smiled sweetly and cooed and simpered and made nice in a way that the grey-eyed Allen hated. This Allen tricked others, talking the people they were interviewing into circles. He slowly amassed information and made connections; figuring out where the Innocence they were searching for was located. This Allen was a survivor at heart; and Lavi couldn't decide if that was a good thing or not. Because an Allen focused solely on survival could be a potentially fearsome enemy.
Right before he was kidnapped Lavi got a look at Allen; Allen who had just shouted at the Earl that he refused to participate in any family squabbles. Allen who had just head butted the Earl and dove into Kanda's mind. This Allen was different then the others, this one had silver eyes. And Lavi shivered at that thought, dreading what those luminous orbs brought with them. What sort of Allen would this silver-eyed being be?
