The Cat

Summary: Kyou-san isn't all too happy about his costume for a charity-function.

She tried hard not to look. Really she did. But it was becoming almost impossible. "Stop it!" The boy snapped. His head quickly tucked low in glowering embarrassment mixed with anger at his predicament.

How did he always manage to get into these messes? She gave a supportive smile as she patted his shoulder.

"Kyou-kun, it's really not all that bad-"

His head shot up. "Not all that bad? Tohru, I'm wearing a cat suit for crying out loud!"

She again felt herself wanting to bubble with laughter but held it tight. "But it's for charity!"

He huffed. "We donate. Why do I have to dress up as a cat? I mean seriously, don't you think I've been a cat long enough to disqualify for this? Why can't that stupid dog dress up? He'd fit right in as being a overstuffed-nut job wearing a dog suit. He'd be a perfect mascot for 'suckers.'"

When he didn't hear a reply from his usually cheerful girlfriend, he finally clamped down all the rustling feelings and tuned into hers.

"Tohru?"

She looked up, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. He gasped. "I didn't mean to make you cry! I'm sorry! I know you wanted to help and all. You know I'd only do this for you, so don't cry." He quickly bent down and placed a quick kiss to her lips before placing the oversized cat head on and went towards the group of children he'd been hiding from. "I'll be back!" He called.

When she was sure that he'd be too engrossed in kids pulling at the stuffed tail and large paws, she turned around to find Arisa and Yuki eyeballing her. "You alright?" Yuki asked.

She gave a nod before finally doubling over with laughter. When her friends both looked at each other in puzzlement, she came up for air, fanning her face in embarrassment for finally caving. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't laugh but-" She must be awful for laughing at something she helped cause.

"So you saw it too?" Yuki asked with a soft chuckle.

Tohru only nodded before falling back into a fit of giggles that became contagious with the other two.

Arisa rubbed at the bit of tears that formed on the corner of her eyes from laughing so much. "I still don't see how that dimwit managed to get a cat suit that was made for a woman. I mean he has breasts for crying out loud. How do you not see that?"

Biting her bottom lip, Tohru looked on over to see Kyou fighting off a boy from tugging on his tail-yet again. "Do you think we should tell him? I really don't want him to be upset."

Yuki sighed, "Something tells me, he'd be upset no matter what. Why not let him do his duty of being the cat for the kids. If he doesn't notice, we won't say a word of it."

All three nodded in agreement just as a child made a comment about Kyou having a boy voice for a female cat.
