I know, I know, I should be working on Direct. And I am. I'm going to blame the delay on school and my own laziness. Yes, I admitted it.
Anyway, this is just a little one-shot based on Luke's arrival after the war, just before being discharged from service. Cute little brotherly/cousin fluff that I couldn't seem to get out of my head. I'm kinda in a Dukes craze right now, so, yeah. I'll work on Direct over the weekend if I can, but definitely on winter break. Senior year is not being nice to me.
I own nothing but my OCs.
I'm Home
All in all, Bo was having a pretty good day. His morning classes went well and now sat in the cafeteria talking with his friends, Aaron and Mark, over lunch. The 17-year-old senior boys lamented over the fact that there was still a week before winter exams. They, like most the entire student body of Hazzard-Chickasaw Counties High School, just wanted them over a done with, the wait was killing them.
"This is gettin' ta be too much," Aaron complained.
"Oh hush Aaron," the ever-sensible Mark stated, " 's only a week more."
"Tha's why 's gettin' ta me. 'S so close, yet so far."
Bo just smiled, silently laughing at the two of them. He agreed with Aaron, but admitting it would a blow to his pride. Uncle Jesse taught him to be patient.
Bo was also a little preoccupied. He and the family got a letter from Luke a few weeks ago. He's coming home, for good. No more deployments, no more tours. He's there to stay. There was just one problem, Bo didn't know the day he was supposed to arrive. He assumed it would be within the next couple of days, but couldn't be sure.
"Helloooo! Earth ta Bo, ya with us buddy?" Aaron said suddenly, interrupting Bo's thoughts.
"Yeah, sorry," Bo replied, a sheepish look on his face.
"Wha's with ya lately, Bo? You been constantly spacin' out," Mark asked.
" 'S nothin'."
"Yeah right, 's nothin'."
"I'm fine, really."
"Mm, hm."
"Yes."
The three boys were so invested in their argument that they didn't notice the man walking up behind Bo. He tapped the boy's shoulder.
"Hey, can I join ya here?" He asked.
"Sure," Bo replied, turning around to look at the newcomer.
But Bo stopped dead in his track when he laid eyes on the man. The man was wearing a military uniform, Marines to be exact. He had dark brown hair and blue eyes, and wore a soft smile on his face.
"LUKE!" Bo shouted as he jumped up to hug his cousin, "You're home! You're finally home!"
"Yep, I'm home."
