Cass opened her eyes, then closed them again and pulled a pillow over her head. Ugh, she thought, Monday morning. Nine years have passed since we have last seen her. She is in collage, becoming a Child Abuse lawyer so that she could do what she loved: protecting innocent children from people that think that they can walk all over them. She also had a budding romance with her long time partner-in-crime, Archie.

Oh, Archie! She forgot that she was supposed to meet him for coffee! He had seemed very nervous when he had called her last night. He had said that he had important news, and that he had wanted to tell her first.

What time was it? She rolled over and looked at the clock. 10:17. She had to meet him in 13 minutes! She vaulted out of bed and got dressed, speeding through her morning routine. She was out the door, running in 6 minutes flat.

Most girls probably wouldn't even have chosen their outfits in 6 minutes, but Cass was not just any girl. Years of protecting orphaned children from the forces of Queen Ancyra and King Arbitron had hardened her into a woman that was accustomed to thinking on her toes, (I think that's the right expression…not sure though) and showed no mercy to those that tried to hurt her loved ones. Not that she had many.

Well, she had Archie, right? And she had Professor Renan. Professor Renan had interviewed her when she was applying to Harvard, and had convinced the others on the admissions committee that she was worth a scholarship. They ended up becoming great friends. She was the mother figure that Cass had never had.

Cass was so lost in her thoughts that she forgot that she was running on a crowded sidewalk through Harvard Square in Boston. She didn't even notice when she ran straight into the middle of the road. She did notice, however, the sudden wave of shrieks and honks coming from all around her. And she certainly noticed when some random dude from the side of the street tackled her onto the grass of the field in General MacArthur Square. (Actual place! If you want you can look it up on Google maps) For the first time, Cass recognized her surroundings. She could ever barely see the Starbucks where she was supposed to meet Archie.

"Almost made it!" she mumbled.

"Excuse me?" said the guy that was lying on top of, had probably just saved Cass's life, and had been completely forgotten about by Cass until he spoke.

"Oh, um, nothing." She smiled weakly and gave a pathetic laugh. "So, uh, thanks."

"No problem." He said, as if he had only picked up a dropped pencil for her.

"Oh, I'm Cass, by the way."

He smiled at her, his sea green eyes sparkling in the sunlight, and his black hair fluttering in the wind.

"I'm Percy."
