Hello you beautiful people. This is a quick one-shot, filled with sadness. BUT the new chapter to "Help me" is coming soon. I'm halfway done with it. Please, stay tuned. And enjoy the story.
Barry was sitting in the chair in the cortex, gripping a coat in his hand. He stared at the white wall in front of him. His lips shaking, tears slowly streaming down his face. Yet, his facial expression was empty.
Just like his heart.
He has been sitting there for the last two hours. Not even flinching. Just slowly breathing, even if he didn't see the point of it.
A hand. Suddenly, a hand was on his shoulder. He didn't care who it was. He didn't move.
"Barr." said a familiar voice. It belonged to Joe.
"Son...please, talk to me. I know it's hard. But I'm worried for you." he said, voice gentle and full of sorrow.
"I'm okay." came the response from Barry, but it wasn't convincing. His voice was quiet, shaky, and...dark. Very dark.
Joe sadly shook his head. "No, you're not. I know you, Barry. I know what's going on inside your head. Leonard only died a few days ago, and you're trying to act like...it didn't happen. You're trying not to think about it. Just like you did with your mother. But it's not healthy, Barr. You need to accept the fact that-"
He was cut off in half by Barry. "I KNOW THAT HE'S DEAD! I KNOW IT DAMN WELL! BUT WHAT THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO DO, JOE? I CAN'T DO ANYTHING! HE WON'T HUG ME ANYMORE! HE WON'T TELL ME THAT HE LOVES ME! I WON'T BE ABLE TO CUDDLE HIM WHEN I'M SAD, HE WON'T TELL ME ABOUT HIS DAY, HE WON'T KISS ME, HE WON'T LAUGH. HE WON'T SMILE, HE WON'T CRY, I WANT...I want to die." his voice broke at the end of the speech, and he started crying.
Joe frowned, and leaned down, so he could hug the sitting Barry. He started rubbing his son's back, to try to calm him down.
Barry hugged back, and buried his face into Joe's shoulder. "I-I'm sorry, Joe." he sobbed. "I didn't me-mean to yell at you. It-it's j-just…"
"Ssshh, I know, I know. You don't have to apologize, Barr. It's okay." Joe assured softly, hugging Barry tighter.
The response from Barry was heavier crying. He cried, histerically, while clinging onto his dad.
They stayed like that for a long time, Barry crying, and Joe just holding him close. to try to calm him down.
After fifteen minutes, Barry's cries slowed down, then faded away, leaving behind a panting boy.
Barry slowly pulled away from the hug, and stood up, still gripping the coat. The parka. Leonard's parka.
Joe gave a sad smile to Barry. "Come on. You'll live with me until you get better, alright?"
The boy nodded slowly and wiped his eyes. He looked down at the parka, and smiled sadly. He looked at it or a few seconds, before putting it on. He felt himself calming down at that, the parka giving him a feel, that Leonard was there. He bit down on his lip, and looked up at Joe. "We can go." he smiled a bit.
Joe pressed a kiss on Barry's forehead, then wrapped an arm around his shoulder.
They slowly started walking out of the Labs.
"It'll be okay, Barr. He's still with you. In your heart." Joe said softly, as they walked off.
