AN: Here's a little one shot for my fellow Captain Swan fans. I actually wrote and posted this on my tumblr about a year ago. Thought I'd upload it here...even though i based off s3. Enjoy.

"You kissed him?"

Emma glances over her shoulder, her brow furrowed. "What?"

Neal rolls his eyes impatiently. "Hook!" he huffs. "You kissed Hook. He told me."

Emma's eyes widen fractionally, her jaw tensing with shock or anger, Neal isn't quite sure which. Eyes darting around, Emma unclenches her teeth to reply. "Neal, now is not the time."

"Of course it's not."

"We have to focus on getting Henry. If this plan is going to work, we have to keep moving." She immediately turns to continue walking.

"So there's no time to talk to me, but plenty of time to kiss him?"

Emma stops and turns to fully regard Neal. Her eyes are hard and her shoulders stiff. "Do you really think you have a right to be mad at me for that? You got engaged!"

"You don't need to remind me that it was a mistake, I'm the one with a bullet hole in my chest."

Emma's eyes widen and she can feel the familiar burn of tears gathering. "I—I'm sorry…"

Neal bows his head and scratches his cheek. When he looks back up at her, his face is softer. "You don't have to apologize. You tired to warn me."

She nods and turns back around to continue after Hook who has gotten much further ahead. The crunching of Neal's boots against the earth causes Emma to let out a minute sigh of relief, assured that the conversation was over…for now.

"Is that why you kissed him?"

She briefly closes her eyes in annoyance.

"Were you trying to get back at me?"

"Neal, you were dead," she answers without turning around.

"So it was a mistake," Neal replies almost sounding relieved. "If you'd known I wasn't dead you wouldn't have kissed him."

"I didn't say that."

"Wait—hold on! You don't actually have feelings for him?"

Emma finds her feet unwilling to continue walking as she sees Hook turning around in search of them. "I don't want to talk about this right now."

"Why? Are you afraid he's going to hear?"

Emma spins on her heel and marches up to Neal, glaring at him. "We'll talk about this later," she says through her teeth.

"Do you know what he did?" At Emma's silence, Neal goes on heatedly, "He ripped my family apart and then had the nerve to think he could replace my father. You do realize he's old enough to be my father, right?"

"So what? You're old enough to be mine."

"Am I interrupting something?" Hook's voice suddenly appears behind Emma.

"No," she says still looking at Neal. "We're finished."

By the look of hurt that crosses over Neal's features Emma is certain he caught the double meaning behind her words.

"I guess we are," he manages to whisper and he walks past her.

Emma doesn't watch him leave, but lets out a small weary breath.

"Is everything alright, darling?"

Emma rounds on Hook. "Why did you tell Neal that we kissed? Are you trying to cause problems?"

Hook looks momentarily taken aback. "I thought you had already told—"

"It's none of his business who I do or don't kiss! We aren't together."

Hook swallows and the light that appears in his eyes makes Emma's pulse race. "You're not?"

"No," she says just a little breathless. "Maybe instead of assuming how I feel, you should ask next time." A hint of a smile softens Hook's face and Emma reaches past her pounding heart for a little bit of fire. "So much for being an open book." Smirking, she turns back onto the path toward Dark Hollow…back toward rescuing Henry.
