It was just them in this world. Just them in this cruel world of malice where innocents die just so the reporters have something to talk about and journalists have something to write down.
But there are times, like when they were little, that Lincoln would tell his brother to forget everythingand he would hold Michael close, and smell his hair and touch his skin. This was their escape. This was their way to get away. But then, Life happened took Lincoln and made Michael stand alone in the cold.
It's all okay now, though. Because they're back together again and Michael will see to it that Lincoln is freed, Lincoln won't be locked away in a cage forever… or in a pine box for that matter. So Michael will save his brother for once, instead of the other way around because he knows his brother better than anyone, he knows that Lincoln hates cages and if he's in one for too long, he'll snap. They are on the run, yes. But they are free. There are no iron bars, there are no bribe-accepting guards, there are no paper palaces to be built, just the sun on their faces as the wind ruffles their clothing. And they would rather die than be placed in another cage, so they'll keep running, running as fast as they can. Because they belong together and no one can change that and if they tried, well...
