If I Said I Loved You
Chapter One
"Dark!" I screamed, almost rolling off my bed. "DARK!"
"What is it, already? What's there to shout about?"
"Look at the time!"
I looked over at the mirror on my desk. Dark's own body was able to be seen in objects like this. I noticed him peer over, and then stuff his head under his pillow. "Ten past eight…"
"It's late!"
"Not late enough," he groaned, begin to nod off again.
"Dark, I'm going to be late for school!" I moaned, tugging on my clothes and snatching up my bag.
"Do I look like I care? I did all that ages ago…"
"Dark!"
"All right, all right! I'm awake! Geez…"
"Bye, Mom!"
"But Dai! Breakfast!"
"Daisuke Niwa?"
The door burst open and I raced to my seat. "Yes Miss!" I called, desperate for breath.
"That was your fault, Dark!"
"What? Why?"
"You wouldn't wake up!"
"And how is that my fault?"
"You weren't awake to wake me up."
"You should learn to be able to identify your alarm clock!"
"Go away. Now I've got to stay back after school for being late. Then I'll be late home and Mom'll have my head!"
"Ha ha!"
"Shut up!"
"You know, you really shouldn't talk to yourself. People might think you've cracked up."
I leapt up. "Ah! Satoshi! W-what are you doing here?"
"You stupid bastard! What are you doing here?"
"Ah-ah, now that's no way to talk to me…"
"Why I oughta…"
"Dark! Shh!" I hissed.
"Krad, behave…" Satoshi warned.
Satoshi and I went silent and blushed. But soon we burst out laughing. "They're as bad as each other, aren't they?" I giggled.
Satoshi chuckled. "Agreed. They're like two old women on a park bench."
We erupted once more. The little voices in our heads decided to shut up fast and left us to our own devices.
"Hmm… You know, it seems such a shame that we have destinies that conflict…" I speculated.
Satoshi looked up and then down again. "Yeah."
"We could become such good friends otherwise."
"Niwa," he began, "I already consider you a good friend."
I looked deep into his eyes. "Oh? You mean that?"
"Please, can I be sick now?"
"I'm with you, babe…"
"Don't call me that!"
Satoshi nodded. "I do, Niwa. Honest and true."
I blushed as red as my hair. "Oh. I guess you are, as well."
"Daisuke-kun, what are you saying?" Dark asked innocently.
"Daisuke, there's another thing…"
Shortly after Satoshi had began speaking the bell rang. I stood. "I'm sorry," I said. "I can't afford to be late again. Can you tell me another time?"
Satoshi looked hurt, but he nodded and walked away, leaving me stood bewildered and guilty.
