Under The Mistletoe
It's Christmas Eve and I'm driving over to Ryan's house. It's pretty early still and it's not yet fully dark. I gave up Christmas with my dad, stepmother and my brother and his family to be with him. I don't regret it at all. Ryan's the love of my life and I would give up anything for him. Thinking of all these things made me smile.
As I pull up to his driveway, the Christmas lights turn on. Their kinda cheesy, but in a cute way. Walking up to his door in the not-so-white-Christmas atmosphere, I suddenly felt adrenaline pumping through my vains. I was ready for the best Christmas of my life.
"Merry Christmas, babe," Ryan exclaimed as he opened the door.
I gestured toward his Santa hat, "Really, 'hun, really?"
"Yeah," He smiled, pulling me into his arms. We hadn't kissed yet and it has started to drive me nuts. We're going on 2 months now, and don't you kiss on like the second date?
"You're a dork," my bright red silk dress looked a little to dressy compared to his jeans and tee shirt.
"Get used to it," he smiled, "You look stunning as always. C'mon in, sweetie."
He followed me inside. After I had entered, he took my coat and we went into the kitchen. I sat down on a bar stool. Ryan's the better cook of us two, so he offered to cook tonight. It's probably for the better. Last time I cooked...well, that's another story.
"Red or white?" Ryan smiled, breaking my daydream of the diaster of when I cooked.
"Oh, uhhhh... red's fine," I said
"Cool," He handed me my glass of wine and we trailed to the couch. "Sooooo, how was your day?"
We talked about work and our families for a while until Ryan was literally begging to show me something. "What? What is it?" I shouted jokingly.
"Just come on and you'll find out!" he smiled and grabbed me by the hand.
As we kinda wandered almost aimlessly around his mansion, I became more excited. Ryan finally led me to a doorway. I was soooooo confuzzled. Completely stumped.
"Look up," he smiled.
"What?" I asked, thinking of the possibilities of why he wanted me to look up.
1. to look down my shirt but
a.) he's not a perverted freak
b.) I would have to bend down
2. there is a spider and he's trying to scare me which won't work because I'm not a priss
So I look up anyway. A mistletoe. My worries are gone. He's gonna kiss me. HE'S GONNA FREAKIN' KISS ME! Oh, my God I cannot freak out! As he pulls me close, I get lost in his eyes. Our lips met... and the sensation is extravagant. Our first kiss. Under a mistletoe. Corny, but perfect.
That was the start of a beautiful relationship. Today, October 6th, is our fourth wedding aniversery. Our beautiful twins Liam and Olivia are running along with us on the beach. My life and my family are so amazing, and no one could take that away from me.
