A gentle yet cold wind carried small snowflakes, blowing them every which way as they fell to the ground in a way that was considered beautiful. The cold air hit a blond's chapped lips making them feel even dryer as he stood in front of a Starbuck's coffee shop that night. He wondered if he should go in and he felt around his pocket for the crumpled piece of paper that held his best friend's number.
Sasuke's number.
After three and a half years of not talking to each other Naruto wasn't sure if he was ready to meet Sasuke at all. Why did he even bother still calling Sasuke his best friend if Sasuke was the one that left without saying a word? Was it even worth it?
When Sasuke had called one day and had asked for them to meet at their usual hangout, Naruto was shocked.
But he was nervous, oh so nervous. And his feet wouldn't move no matter how many times he told them to. He wanted to meet his most precious person. He wanted to tell Sasuke how much he has been missed. How much he had missed him, but something was stopping him. Was it fear? Rejection? The fear of rejection?
The soft jingle of a bell alerted Naruto that someone had either entered Starbuck's or exited. He pasted on a fake smile. Who was he kidding? It was cold and Sasuke, being Sasuke, would probably have left him waiting.
There was an intake of breath and if Naruto were anyone else, his sensitive ears would have missed it. He lifted his blue eyes only to have them widen in shock as he took in the dark haired man that stood in front of him.
It had been too long.
"Sa…su…ke…"
Sasuke's dark eyes widened. He had been waiting for hours at Starbuck's and didn't think Naruto would show at all. He was surprised to see that Naruto had been standing outside of the shop the whole time looking cold and unsure.
"I…" Sasuke's voice was dry against the winter wind. "I was waiting for you; I didn't think you would show."
Blue eyes darted to the ground. How was he supposed to act? Was he supposed to act normal? He clenched the paper inside his pocket once more.
"I was going to call…"
"…Naruto…"
Suddenly, Sasuke felt a whoosh of air leave him. He could feel Naruto's arms wrap around him tightly and warm droplets of tears sink into his shirt since he hadn't zipped his bubble coat. He allowed himself a small smile and pressed his nose into Naruto's blond hair, his natural scent tickling Sasuke's nose like it used to all those years ago. He wrapped his arms around the smaller male.
"Kami-sama, you don't know how much I've missed you."
Naruto only hugged him tighter.
"Not as much as I missed you." He cried.
Taking one hand from around Naruto, Sasuke tilted up Naruto's chin and pressed his lips to the pink one's he had missed so much.
And it was just like before. An immediate action. Like Sasuke had never been gone. Had never left Naruto side. Like he had always been where he belonged. Naruto's lips tasted warm like a summer's day, and cool as the wind blowing gently through their hair, intertwining, and mixing until it blended into one.
"I love you," Sasuke whispered when they broke apart.
Naruto's blue eyes shone brighter on that winter night.
"I love you too, teme."
