[A/N]: This had to have been the worst time for my internet to go out: right when I was in the middle of my Civil War Countdown. Oh, well. So here's the story you all came to read. Enjoy!

Kara Danvers sat on the bus, eager for the ride to be over. The entire high school was headed to a planetarium for a field trip, and Kara was excited for that, but not the three-hour bus ride that lay ahead. She took her iPod out of her backpack and put in her earbuds, closing her eyes as the music started and other filed onto the bus, waiting for either Winn or Alex to sit next to her.

When the bus started moving, Kara's eyes opened for a moment to see who was sitting next to her. That definitely isn't Winn or Alex. No, it was James "Jimmy" Olsen, popular photographer and football player in the grade above hers. Unbeknownst to him (if he even knew who she was), Kara had harbored a crush on him ever since he'd moved to the school a year ago. Kara tried to just listen to her music and ignore him, but it was difficult to do. James fiddled with his camera, seemingly oblivious to her presence.

After approximately twenty minutes of watching him out of the corner of her eye, Kara mustered up the courage and pulled out an earbud, offering it to him. His eyes met hers questioningly, so she said lightly, "You look bored, and I promise my music isn't all Taylor Swift."

He gave her a smile, accepting the earbud. "Oh, Bon Jovi? Good taste."

Kara glowed a bit, heart still pounding from the adrenaline of the simple act.

Two hours later, they both rested their heads back against the seat, eyes closed as the music distracted them from the boredom their classmates were surely experiencing. James had smiled as a mishmash of genres had played, from country to Disney to film score to 2000s pop, finding all the songs to be uniquely Kara in some way.

Short, but sweet. I hope to add more stories to the Supergirl archive soon.
