When Sokka walked into his office and sat down, he noticed that something was different, which was unusual for him. He glanced around the room, not spotting the change. Then his eyes settled on a red envelope sitting on his keyboard; one which hadn't been there previously. He pressed the call button and the number for his secretary's desk, and was answered almost instantly.
"Sir?"
"Ty Lee, did you put this envelope on my desk?" It was addressed to him in computer-printed black Arial font.
"Yes, sir. It was sent by courier this morning."
"Alright, thank you."
"You're welcome, sir."
When the communication was discontinued, he picked up the imposing piece of mail. He sliced open the top and out slid a card. It had a picture of three kittens on it, curled up together, sleeping. He paused. Who knew that he loved kittens?
When he opened the card his heart nearly stopped. He stood and pulled on his coat before walking out of his office, card still clutched in his hand.
"Ty Lee, hold my calls. I'm going home. I won't be returning today. Re-schedule my meetings and appointments." Without awaiting any reply, he was out the door.
The drive home felt longer than usual, as things often do when you need to be somewhere. The moment he was parked in the garage, he jumped out and practically sprinted to the house.
The door was unlocked so he walked right in. His wife was standing at the sink, doing the dishes. Her back was to him but he knew that she had heard him enter. He walked up behind Toph and wrapped his arms around her, letting the card finally drop from his hand. As it hit the floor, it fell open, revealing the message it held.
'And baby makes three.'
