A/N: A poem about what Hawkeye thinks of rain in the episode Out of Sight, Out of Mind, season five.

Disclaimer: I do not own MASH.

Rain,

Soft droplets cascading down from an ugly sky.

Why had he never before noticed the beauty of it?

The soothing sounds it made?

Never before had he acknowledged the splendor!

The wonder it invoked in him.

How something so simple,

Could move him so, even to the point of tears.

His mother had called them,

Heaven's Tears.

And even now he cried,

As memories of better times filled his mind.

Here it was dark,

He was surrounded by the uncertainty of seeing another day.

Here he drowned in the rain.

In Maine he had savored it.

But even here in Korea he could not turn away from its comforting call.

In it he found relief,

Something he could cling to,

When all hope seemed to be lost.
