Don't Hate Me, Daddy

xXx

Lily knew the moment had come. She was getting bigger. She wouldn't be able to hide it much longer.

She swallowed nervously as she fidgeted, playing with the fabric of her dark purple dress.

"Lily, you wanted to talk to me?"

Lily forced a smile on to her face. "Hi, Daddy."

Harry's face immediately lost his smile. "I can't remember the last time you called me 'daddy.' What's wrong?"

She took a deep breath. "I don't want you to hate me."

"I could never hate my little girl."

"You say that now."

Harry sat on the chair by her desk. "What's the problem, Lily?"

She sighed and sat on her bed. "Daddy…"

"Lily, come on. You're scaring me."

She placed her hands on her stomach and looked at her bouncing knee, averting her eyes.

"Lily, I'm imagining things that are probably much worst. Out with it."

"I'm pregnant," she finally blurted, her face crimson.

Harry blinked. "You're pre-pre-pre…" he trailed off, unable to say the word.

"Pregnant," she helpfully said.

Harry was at a loss. Lily was fifteen. This wasn't possible. He wasn't totally naive. He knew many teenagers had sex. He might have been too busy saving the world, but the new generation didn't have Death Eaters and Voldemort to worry about.

Still, Lily was only fifteen! This wasn't supposed to happen to his baby girl!

"Daddy, are you okay?" Lily hesitantly asked.

"Who's the father?" Harry finally managed to ask even though he had a hunch.

"Scorpius."

Harry closed his eyes and nodded to himself. It was as he suspected. The two of them were inseparable.

"Do you hate me, Daddy?"

That got Harry to open his eyes and stare at his beautiful daughter. Her lips quivered, and there were tears that looked like glistening crystals as her eyes welled up. "I could never hate you. I might hate Scorpius a little bit, though."

"He didn't force me."

"I know, but it's easier to blame him."

Lily's surprised laugh was watery. "What am I going to do?" Her tears flew down her cheeks in earnest as she threw her arms around Harry's neck and held on for dear life.

"First, we are going to tell your mum. Then, we'll have to tell Scorpius and his parents. After that, we'll figure it out as we go along."

"You're too calm!" Lily accused through her tears.

"One of us has to be," he retorted.

Harry held his daughter as she continued to cry. Lily had a hard road before her, but he'd do his best to make it just a bit easier.
