I was beaten I could see it, my hand was gone just like it had been lost years ago when it was still flesh, he stood over me ready to deliver the deathblow his green blade hovering inches from me, feebly I raised my good hand in a hope to stop him from delivering the coup de grace, I heard my master's cackling, as he encouraged him to strike me dead and follow him and his teachings, he intended to lure him away as he had me all those years ago.

The young man stared down at me and then he stared at his hand a mechanical hand like I had, a hand I had given him he slowly clenched the mechanical fist and unclenched it, his face was so much like one I once knew, sighing he extinguished his blade and tossed it to the side, "Never I'll never turn to the dark side, You've failed your highness, I am a Jedi like my father before me." The emperor glared at him knowing that he had failed.

"So be it Jedi. I f you will not be turned than you will be destroyed!" Blue bolts of electricity arced from his fingers and sent the valiant Jedi falling to the deck writhing in pain. I rose to my feet unsteadily to stand by my masters side, "Young fool, only now at the end do you understand." He blasted him again not even giving him the chance to rise, "Your Feeble skills are no match for the power of the dark side." He crept forward advancing on the stricken Jedi, I followed alongside just as I always had, for all these years. He blasted him again, "You have paid the price for your lack of vision." He screamed, he screamed to me, "Father please!" As the emperor continued to punish him, "He was Anakin's son and I was once Anakin, I was once a Jedi like he was.

"And now young Skywalker, you will die." The emperor growled, for the last time the blue bolts struck him and he screamed louder than he had before, I stared at him he was my son, and I was still a Jedi even if I denied it, I stared at his anguish and then stared at my master who had taken so much from me, he would not take my son from me not when I could do something not now when I saw that he was right that there was still good in me, I was a Jedi! Without a second thought I seized the emperor the punishing bolts were striking me now but I didn't feel them as I carried him to the edge of the pit and tossed him in, he fell a long ways into the reactor and was gone in a brilliant flash.

My son moved to my side helping me away from the pit we trudged away not saying a word to one another, we made our way to the hangar around us the station personnel ran for their live not caring about us only their selves, we made it to the edge of a shuttle when I could move no more, I knew my time was almost over but there was one last thing I needed to do, "Luke help me take this mask off." I breathed weakly, "But you'll die." He said, "Nothing can stop that now." I said I realized that now once I thought it was possible to stop, "Just this once let me look on you with my own eyes." He nodded sadly and removed my mask, and then for the first time I could see him I could actually see him, I saw in him myself the better parts of myself and I saw in him the woman I loved. "Now go my son, leave me." I croaked my voice sounding weak. He shook his head, "No I'm not leaving you here you're coming with me I've got to save you."

"You already have….Luke you were right about me tell your sister you were right." "Father I won't leave you." I sank down my strength gone, I knew that I was dead but I wasn't afraid I had done the right thing in the end, the force called me home.
