Late at night in the midst of December, the snow gracefully glided through the air, the stars twinkling, and the moon full. Hidden among the many concrete neighborhoods, through a stone archway, a cobblestone courtyard surrounded by elegant pastel houses lay covered in fluffy whiteness. In the center of this concealed sanctuary, a tall stone pillar housed a large stone crow, its eyes sparkling with life.
Through the crisp air, these frozen droplets raced each other down to the cobblestones, where a remarkable vision moved throughout the refuge. Amid the pure white flurries, two figures disrupted the clean, untouched surface, leaving their marks across the land. Crystalline drops rested on their forms, coating the pair in fine frozen dust.
Though the couple was oblivious to all of this. All they could see, hear, and feel was the presence of the other and a beautiful waltz known only to them. The tawny-haired man flung his partner out to his side, brought her back to him, and dipped her gracefully. The woman kept her maple eyes locked on his jade-green ones as she twirled beneath his fingertips, her chocolate-brown hair flying around her.
They glided across the smooth snow with ease, dancing with the grace of decades' worth of practice, but they hadn't had decades. The two had known each other for only a year after the gentleman helped the young lady with her unique problem. But that didn't matter to either of them. They didn't need decades or practice. All they needed was each other.
The woman rested her head on her love's chest and closed her eyes peacefully. The man held his love close and gently guided her through the dance as he hummed their song. And all around the blissful couple, the snow, the stars, the moon, and the crow joyously watched them.
