"He's arrogant and rude and-""absolutely none of those things when you're around." Marlene cut off Lily's rant, a frown on her face.
"Shut it, Mar. He's even more arrogant and rude when I'm around." Lily snapped.
Mary's blonde head popped up from behind a scarlet armchair. "Are you mad? Of course he's sweet when you're around!"
"You mean he shows off!" Lily corrected, stabbing her quill into a piece of parchment. She was too worked up to do homework.
Mary grinned and shared a look with Marlene. "Lils, the handsomest troublemaker in school favors you! You're the only one he really leaves alone when you think about it, plus it's obvious he cares about you!"
Marlene nodded, pushing her glasses further up her nose. "You'd be a fool to ignore the second most handsome boy in school."
"Second?" Mary asked incredulously.
Marlene blushed and twirled a lock of hair around her wand. "After Sirius of course."
Lily shook her head. "Your infatuation with his best friend besides, I fell like I have to clarify. It isn't the way he treats me, it's the way he treats everybody else."
Mary grinned. "I'm not sure James Potter snogs everybody else in the fourth floor corridor Lily."
Lily blushed.
