Arc One: Illusions of the Past
Chapter One: Daydreaming a Nightmare
Author's note:
After watching Shugo Chara and Princess Tutu, I feel like I want to destroy Drosselmeyer and choke Mytho to give up his heart shard to make Ahiru human again) it gave me a wonderful idea to write this piece of [shoot]!
This story is a sort of a reincarnation fic.

Summary: "The differences between reality and dreams... what are they...?" "Just the quantity of information." At the end of the anime, Drosselmeyer, angry at the loss of his tragedy, kills Ahiru before moving on to write another story. In a desperate move to save her, Fakir, unintentionally, sent Ahiru's soul into Drosselmeyer's new story, in which she is to play another major and tragic role once again. Will Ahiru be able to break free from her gilded cage, or will she be unable to see the line between what is real and what is imaginary
Once upon a time, there was once a young chick who lived high in the trees and had just begun to fly. Surrounding its clump of trees was a wide field of beautiful white and blue flowers specked with silver. The young bird, fascinated by the beauty of those flowers always wished it could just go down and observe them more closely, and maybe even bring a flower back o it nest. Sadly, the bird's parents forbid it to ever step into the flower field below. But the young chick was just so curious that, one day, when its parents were away for the day, it gathered its courage and flew down towards the flower beds. All day the little bird played among with the flowers, dancing in the wind until the sky had turned quite dark and the bird has fallen quite tired. So instead of going all the way up to its nest it fell asleep under the flowers. As the wind rustled, so did the flowers, only now they danced in fright, for out of a hole a snake had begun to slither across the meadow towards the sleeping bird. It tensed its muscles and bared its fangs when its head was just above the bird. It dived. From that point on, the bird never woke up again, forever sleeping among the blood-red roses under the darkening moon.
Morals:
1. Curiosity killed the bird
2. All that looks innocent usually are not.
*MONDAY, MARCH 2010, SEIYO ACADEMY, NIGHTMARE*
Silence. All around, their was nothing but complete silence, only to be disturbed by those had the strength to face the consequences of such actions.
Hardly any ripples could be seen on the smooth dark blue- nearly black- lake. No birds could be heard flapping their wings. The squirrels were all tucked away in their holes, trying to be as small as possible, as unnoticed as possible, not that Amu blamed them.
To be honest, Amu would have been doing the same thing if she was in their place. She shuddered as she looked down once more at the forest that surrounded the lake. It was no ordinary forest, that much she could tell. The forest was filled with pine trees which barks were dry and peeled. The leaves, mostly, either were dying or had already withered away. The lower part of the forest was shrouded in a rusty red mist whose copper odor strongly reminded Amu of blood. Thankfully, the upper-half of the trees was mostly mist-free.
The forest seemed to stretched out endlessly. Cries of different predators could be heard from afar and the glowing red sky above did not make the area any less foreboding.
Quiet.
Not even a cricket sound could be heard from Amu's vantage point, though whether it was really because there weren't any crickets or because they were too low to be heard, Amu couldn't tell.
The squirrels were tucked away in their holes and the pigeons settled in their nests.
The trees were as motionless as the stones, as not a single wisp of wind was felt. The sky began to be blanketed by a wall of white clouds, slowly turning black match the background. Not even the fish seemed to be moving in the pond itself.
Fortunately- or was it unfortunately?- the silence was not about to last long.
A great splash was heard. It was so loud and powerful that all the water in the pond fell out and washed against the surrounding forests and its inhabitants, dead, rotting fish ending up as high as the tree tops, stuck between branches making them an easy treat for the hawks and other birds flying above the forest's to escape the cascading waterfall.
When all the water had vanished, there was only a dark figure that was standing at the center of the pond. It began to stretch after getting up. When it was done, it took in a deep breath and began shouting—at Amu:
"AHIRU DUCK, OR SHOULD I SAY AMU HINNAMORI?! I AM DROSSELMEYER. YOU MAY NOT REMEMBER ME AND I MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO SEE YOU, BUT MARK MY WORDS, I REMEMBER YOU AND KNOW YOU ARE HERE. I WILLFIND YOU AND MAKE YOU AND MY ANNOYING ASSISTANT PAY FOR DESTROYING MY BEAUTIFUL PEICE OF ART!"
... Amu had no idea what the ma- Drosselmeyer- was talking about.
"NOW IS THE TIME! ARE YOU READY TO FACE YOUR PAST? ARE YOU READY TO GIVE UP YOUR LIFE TO GO BACK INTO THE STORY? OR WILL YOU MAKE THE ONES YOU CARE ABOUT MOST SUFFER FROM YOUR BETRAYAL? DO YOU WANT TO LIVE IN THE PAST OR HURT THE FRIENDS LOST TO TIME? DO YOU WANT TO STAY IN THE PRESENT OR HURT THE FRIENDS YOU HAVE NOW? DECIDE, OR ELSE YOU WILL LOSE ALL THAT YOU CARE ABOUT PAST AND PRESENT! WHAHAHAHAHA!"
Amu looked at this insane and old man as if he had grown a second head. He was bent down with wild, malevolent laughter. She was confused. Decide? Between friends from the past and friends of the present? What was he talking about? She had no past friends. She had been a loner before coming to Seiyo!"
"Well," Amu said aloud, mockingly, "its not as if I've been a lonesome kid with no social skills before coming to Seiyo, so if that old geezer is giving me a choice between non-existent friends from the past and the friends I have now... I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS! I CHOOSE NOW!"
"EEEEEEEEEEEEYYYAAA!" the old man called Drosselmeyer screeched as my words echoed through the forest. "Oh, wait—you do? Just like that?" He began running around frantically. "NOOO! THE STORY CAN'T END LIKE THIS! NO, NO, NO, NO, NO! Oh, come on, why not? Didn't you LIKE your past? Wasn't it a wonderful memory to you?"
"Are you as baka as you look? I didn't HAVE any friends until I came to Seiyo Elementary."
Drosselmeyo stopped in his tracts. "You didn't...NOOO! THIS IS THE END OF THE STORY! I'M RUINED! MY LEGACY STORY IS RUINED I SAY!" He began running in circles—again!
"Look, old guy, what's your problem? It's not the end of the world."
Drosselmeyer stopped and slowly turned around, An evil smile slowly etched into his face. "Oh, no, no, no, no, my little hatchling. It isn't the end of the world for me. Oh, oh, oh, no..." He raised his arms and darkness began to swirl around me. "IT IS THE END OF THE WORLD FOR YOU!"
Suddenly, chains of darkness came out of nowhere and dragged me down through a portal of darkness bottomless pit filled with even MORE darkness.
"H-hey! What's the big idea! LET GO OF ME, YOU BAKA WEEDS!" "HA! You are now my prisoner, again! You are now my character of my tragic story again! You are now PRINCESS TUTU ONCE AGAIN! Muahahaha!"
I was suffocating, the darkness moving ever closer as it wrapped around me. All I could hear was his echoing questions going through my head.
"NOW IS THE TIME! ARE YOU READY TO FACE YOUR PAST?"
"Why should I tell you?" I shouted.
"ARE YOU READY TO GIVE UP YOUR LIFE TO GO BACK INTO THE STORY?"
"What story?"
"OR WILL YOU MAKE THE ONES YOU CARE ABOUT MOST SUFFER FROM YOUR BETRAYAL?"
"Betrayal? I never betrayed my friends!"
"DO YOU WANT TO LIVE IN THE PAST OR HURT THE FRIENDS LOST TO TIME?"
"I don't have any friends lost in time!"
"DO YOU WANT TO STAY IN THE PRESENT OR HURT THE FRIENDS YOU HAVE NOW?"
"Of course I want to stay!"
"DECIDE, OR ELSE YOU WILL LOSE ALL THAT YOU CARE ABOUT PAST AND PRESENT!"
"I already did! The present!"
"DID YOU? ARE YOU SAYING THAT WITH YOUR HEART OR ARE YOU SAYING THAT BECAUSE YOUR HEART WANTS TO SAY?"
"What is the world are you talking about?!"
"DID YOU? ARE YOU SAYING THAT WITH YOUR HEART OR ARE YOU SAYING THAT BECAUSE YOUR HEART WANTS TO STAY?"
"I—I don't know what you're even saying and I don't care!"
"YOU LIE AND YOU KNOW IT. YOU CARE VERY MUCH!"
"I—I don't know! I just don't know!"
"DECIDE, OR ELSE YOU WILL LOSE ALL THAT YOU CARE ABOUT, BOTH THE PAST AND PRESENT!
"I.. .I.. .DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT! LET ME OUT OF HERE, OLD GUY!
"NOT UNTIL YOOU ANSWER WITH YOUR HEART!"
"I did!"
"DID YOU? DID YOU? DID YOU? ANSWER ME TRUTHFULLY! DID YOU?"
The sickening world around Amu began to turn dark. She tried to push the parch weeds away but she couldn't... All she could do was feel her eyes close as the weeds mummified her. "I don't know what you're saying... I don't know…" The world went dark.
*MONDAY, MARCH 2010, SEIYO ACADEMY, MORNING CLASS*
(Amu's POV)
"Hinamori-san?" a voice called out.
"Not yet. I'm not ready yet..." Amu whispered.
"Hinamori-san?"
"Not yet. I can't tell you... I don't know..."
"HINAMORI-SAN?"
"I DON'T KNOW!" Amu screamed, finally waking up in the middle of class with all of the students and Nikaidou-sensei staring at her. Nikaidou-sensei was in the middle of writing a mathematical figure on the board when Amu had rudely interupted. The class slowly began giggling before laughing outright. Amu's face became as red as a tomato before she hit her head with a thud on the table and groaned
Nidaidou-sensei, on the other hand just turned around and continued to write the math equation on the board. "Hinamori-san," he said cheerfully, "if you didn't know the equation you could have just said so."
"Yes, sensei," Amu said, her voice muffled, still embarrassed. Ugh, she thought. This is the fifth time I've had that stupid dream! Why can't it just stop, already?! I knew I shouldn't have read that baka author's biography. Now I'm having nightmares about him!
I hope you found reading this as enjoyable as I had while writing this! Thanks for reading!
