He approached Beckett, knowing what had just gone down between the two "partners."
"So, how long before Castle did you know this was about counterfeiting?" he asked with a smirk, anticipating a smart reply.
She just smiled at him, saying so much without any words, and wandered away for some work.
Esposito strolled back to his desk, engrossed in the idea of his boss wanting the man who hurt her so much back into her life, into their lives. He and Ryan had spent all summer protecting her, keeping her from folding in on herself, and it grated on him a bit to know that she was letting Castle in anyways.
He understood what a big step it was for Beckett to do that, to allow Castle to work at the precinct again. He also understood that she was not going to make it easy for the author, that she had her own issues to resolve with him.
Forgiveness was not one of Esposito's strong points, but growing up with siblings … he learned to get even. While Beckett may have forgiven Castle (at least a bit), Javier still had some issues to resolve. Castle had seemed to … enjoy … the "curse" of last year. Perhaps it was time for another dose of "Espo and Ryan" at the their best.
He and Ryan had some planning to do. Castle was never going to know what hit him.
